I just traded in my 93 Ranger. I taught two sons to drive it. Looks like my daughter will avoid that education.

No manual here currently, but after shelling out $2500 for a transmission rebuild a couple years ago, I do want to go back to a stick.

Last manual I had was only 2 wheels, my Suzuki. But before that, I had a pair of Nissans and a Ford Ranger that were sticks.

Learned to drive in an F150 with 3 speed on the tree, and my brother’s Escort, also a stick.

I find a stick much more beneficial in snowy weather, which we get plenty here.

My first car was a M/T Chevy Chevette that I drove all through high school, college and the early years of marriage. I had to turn the a/c off to make it up certain hills and inclines.

I did without M/T for years, and recently picked up a M/T Tacoma, and it has been a blast to drive. I love it!

The wife and I can drive a M/T
None of the kids can.
Tryed to get them to do it but they didn't want to.

When I retire and we move in a year probably will get an old 4X4 Pickup with a manual trans for the yard truck.

Learned to drive a 63 Kenworth Conv. with a 262 Cummins and a 4X4 Twin Sticks. Hauled Christmas trees from Eugene Oregon to Los Angeles in the 70s. When you came to a hil you just start dropping the main box untill you find a gear that would pull the grade. Then you could try to gain a gear in the brownie (aux trans) if you were lucky. Looked a lot like this set up in a Pete.



Never wanted to do this on a ruff road. Hit a rut and the steering wheel would really jerk. No Power Steering. Always keep your thumps out of the steering wheel. Learnd that on some old farm tractors also.

Currently I own a Honda S2000–only comes with a manual, and a great one.
Previously leased a 2001 S2000.

Well, I have an '06 Mustang GT 5-Speed that I bought new, and a 1998 BMW Z3 4cyl. 5-Speed as well.

Just removed the last manual from the garage (for now).

Earlier this year, 50% (2/4) were manual.
Had our cars, and 2 motorcycles.
Wife's dad made room in his garage & took his Indian home.
Dropped me to 33%
Took my dad's Kawasaki Vulcan S back to him today.
Down to 0% manuals in the garage...

I haven't owned a "straight drive" in almost 20 years, but owned and drove nothing but straight drives for ~15 years before that. In the course of my work I do still drive them occasionally.

Slushboxes rule these days. Even high performance cars come with autoboxes with a Playstation/Xbox slapshifter for those who like to pretend that they know how to choose a gear and rev match the shifts. Sure they're faster (computer vs human gray matter), but they're not nearly so enjoyable to drive. I have mine and as long as my left leg is tough enough to handle a clutch pedal it will remain that way.

The saddest part is that it's bloody hard to update to a newer version of something I already have. I recently looked at a first-gen 991 thinking it might be time to finally step into a water-cooled 911 since prices are coming down to a doable level. But as nicely kept as the car was it was equipped with a PDK box, Porsche's version of a slapshifting automatic. Performance-wise it's a stupendous box but it's not about how quick the experience is, but the enveloping quality of the experience itself. Add in the fact that there are NO serviceable parts to the PDK transmission--when it breaks the only fix is a COMPLETE replacement--it's a no-go for me. I guess my now 25 yr old 993 is going nowhere.

Integra...now that's a name I've not heard in a long time.

My best bud used to have a GS-R from 90s; one hell of a civilized, factory rice rocket. Nearly bought a Type R back in the late 90s. Kinda wish I had, considering the values of those cars these days. Not that anyone really would get rich, but clean examples with spotless histories bring more than double what they originally retailed for.

Currently have two Mustang GT convertibles, and both are manual transmissions. I love the sound of rowing a V8, while the wind blows over my scalp.

My first Ferrari was an 88 328GTS with a block shifter. As much as I like my 355 I miss the manual transmission.

I currently own 3 MT vehicles - 2005 S2000, 1977 280Z, and a 2016 Mini JCW. My first new vehicle was an Isuzu P’up with MT - should have bought and stored 2 more at 4995 our the door. I had a 1972 MGB as a daily drive for 4 years, and my dad taught my wife how to drive on a manual Datsun 1981 Diesel Pickup (husbands and boyfriends should not teach their wives/girlfriends).

I love manuals, have changed a clutch or 3 starting with mustangs back in high school...and hope they never go completely away. My wife loves the mini BTW, even lowered on springs.

Daily driver in the city is Corolla with auto; more trouble than fun to shift as much as I would have to. But I've got a '96 Tacoma with 5-speed manual, as well as manual transfer case and manually locking hubs. The only way to go for me. Learned to drive stick on an old Willy's with no synchromesh. My cousin's '68 Bronco was three-on-the-tree. My first car was a '69 VW Beetle with four-speed. And then there was my beloved '85 Toyota 4x4, all manual like the Tacoma. I like a stick.

I had a 2014 Audi S5 before trading it for a 2016 in my preferred color—black. Both were manuals. Growing family means ditching the 2016 S5, which happened to be Audi’s last manual transmission vehicle, for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rebicon...in manual of course. Wife is learning how to drive it.

I find it interesting that there’s a bit of blowback by a few manufacturers regarding manuals.
The Honda Accord is available (in theory anyway) with a 6-speed manual on all models including the upper range Touring.
I didn’t get one because I’m almost always in city driving. And I have the S2000 for fun.
