Price Control – How it Really Really Works
The egg farmer produces eggs for $2 and sells them to the wholesaler for $3. The wholesaler sells them to ACME for $4 which sells them to me for $5.
The Gov. tells ACME to sell eggs for $4 so ACME tells the wholesaler I will give you $3. The wholesaler tells the egg farmer I will give you $2. The egg farmer says I can’t, that is my cost. So the wholesaler says then I can’t buy your eggs and tells ACME sorry, not at that price. So ACME has no eggs to sell and there is now a shortage of eggs and a black market gets underway selling eggs for $6.
Meanwhile the big egg producers kill their chickens and sell their business and retire to Florida. The small egg producers contribute to the black market and the system returns to equilibrium – but with shortages and higher prices.
The Gov. changes hands and immediately repeal Price Control. ACME calls the wholesaler and orders cases of eggs. The wholesaler calls the egg producer and find the phone line is disconnected and discovers the farm is now a Gov. data center monitoring the black market. The wholesaler tells ACME, sorry no eggs and I continue buying the occasional egg for $6.

But they do anyway, expecting carve-outs or other preferential treatment, or, if nothing else, to be eaten last. This is nothing short of bribery.

Problem is, most of you guys aren't even using it correctly and the term has lost all meaning. It originally meant a busybody "let me speak to your manager" type who generally gets her comeuppance in whatever scenario being related, but it has become a catch-all for any woman displaying any kind of behavior someone doesn't like. It was fresh in my mind because of a recent interaction with an AWFL Karen on X.

I'm sure she's on her 2nd box of wine and a xanax by now. She even had the haircut and the problem glasses. So the moniker was appropriate.

You must work/have worked at a very progressive workplace. I only have one coworker who has transitioned.
