Hes doing to twitter what he did with crypto. He bought twitter stock in a lull, hes going to drive up the price by generating interest and controlling the narrative. Hes gonna pump the price up and dump his shares, then walk away with more money. Rinse and repeat. This is what hes good at, hell he lives for it. You’re kidding yourself if you think hes doing this to give us back our “freedom of speech”. Thats just how hes selling it, and its working.

How do you know all of this? Have you met him?

I know at least three people who have met/worked directly for him. Where do you divine such keen insight?

I listen to what hes says, then I wait and watch what he actually does. Smart people do that, you should try it sometime. You seem to have some emotional attachment to Elon, I dont. Im just expressing my opinion, feel free to keep your own.

He doesn't strike me as that kind of guy for one thing, and for another, he's stated that this is not about money.

I have two close family members who work for and have worked with Mr. Musk for over a decade. They both have meetings with him and interact with him directly, frequently.

Selfishness and self-serving are not how they describe him. Incredibly intelligent, and driven are how they describe him. They both had a choice to work for anyone, and chose their line of work and employer.

Goddamn right it would. I dont know any billionaires personally, but if you look at this current group of hyper wealthy businesspeople- they all have something is common. Its like their brain is wired differently than ours. I dont find any of them to be altruistic by nature. Trump, Musk, Bezos, Gates, etc- all the same genius ability to organzize, create, and succeed. They are driven, and enough is never enough for them. Elon didnt stop at 100 or 200 billion, hes going all the way.
We need people that like, but I just dont think his motives are always about the little people.
Its 2022, I dont trust anyone with that amount of money, no matter how much I like them or how cool they seem.

If anything, this is a huge risk. You don't do something like this "to make money." I don't imagine he has 40 some odd billion dollars in cash lying around which means he'd have to liquidate his other stock to cover the purchase. That would have to be Tesla, wouldn't it? And that would have the effect of bringing down the price of Tesla stock effectively slashing his net worth in the process.

Anyway, the point is that this move by Elon is a huge gamble. I imagine ultimately though he'll come out ahead.

The board will have to sell to him, or find someone willing to outbid him.

Doing the first would achieve Musk's stated goal. Doing the second would raise the value of his stock.

Heads he wins, tails he wins.

I do think if Musk takes control and makes Twitter something that no longer repels half the potential market, then Twitter will grow faster and maybe the stock price will recover.

His intentions may torque off some of the pinheads who work there and who have made the place so twisted...so much the better.

I think Tucker is on point tonight about Elon Musk.

The world is about to rain a gale force shit-storm on his head for this upsetting of the Apple carts of power.

Elon owns 10% roughly.

So the guy that owns 5 % of twitter stock doesnt want to sell. So what?

Im guessing if you are buying controlling interest in a company theres going to be someone who doesnt want to sell...so what...he doesnt need to buy 100% of the stock.

So all he needs to do is buy 40+ % of the stock and he has a controlling interest in the company.

What am I missing, besides a degree in finance?

As a public company you have specific regulations and obligations (SEC).

Far less so as a private company owned 100% by Elon, incorporating in some state of his choosing.

Musk is no longer the largest shareholder. Vanguard upped their position:

Interesting move. To me it's a move to put pressure on the board to accept the deal and make a quick buck because if Musk liquidates his stock it will likely tank and these guys don't like to lose money. I imagine the stoplosses set on Twitter is going to crash it unlike anything we've seen if the board doesn't accept the deal.

All we need now is for /WallStreetBets to use their ape power and push the price one way or the other using massive leverage to really F things up.

Twitter only 14th most popular social media by active users.

That was surprising to me. Just a drop in the bucket and folks are losing their minds.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Yeah, Twitter is not some long term money making powerhouse. Frankly, it's been struggling to make money and is continually losing users. So why does the Saudi kingdom reject a great offer to sell it and says it has huge growth prospects due to its intrinsic value? Because he knows it's more valuable in another way. Controlling speech.

If you think Musk is doing this primarily to make money, well there are much better ways to spend $40 billion to do that. There would seem to be something else motivating Elon Musk here...

Vanguard is a member of the World Economic Forum and went woke trying to force boards of companies they have investments in to increase their diversity and other pressure tactics.

They are trying to stop Elon from getting a controlling interest.

I'm sure that's a big part of it. Then again, Twitter seems to be huge and still growing fast in the Middle East and the Saudis may also see it as giving them access to a real-time intelligence source.

I'm sorry to hear that. VG has always been a go-to company for me. A place that could most always be trusted and had low fees, for the most part.
