Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself last week from the investigation into a reported attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett “out of an abundance of caution” because she spoke to one of his relatives after it was reported and acted as a go-between with Chicago police, one of Foxx’s aides told the Tribune on Wednesday.

"Shortly after the incident occurred in late January, State’s Attorney Foxx had conversations with a family member of Jussie Smollett about the incident and their concerns, and facilitated a connection to the Chicago Police Department who were investigating the incident,” said Robert Foley, a senior adviser to Foxx.

“Based on those prior conversations and out of an abundance of caution, last week State’s Attorney Foxx decided to remove herself from the decision-making,” Foley said.

Chicago’s local CBS affiliate, WBBM Channel 2, has obtained video of the two brothers tied to the alleged staged attack on Empire actor Justice Smollett purchasing ski masks from a store one day prior to the purported assault.

And let's not forget that when it was first reported that two suspects were identified in the attack, this guy said he was willing to testify against them knowing full well whoever they were had to be innocent. It wasn't until he found out that the suspects were the Nigerian twins that he said he wouldn't testify.

His plan included video of the "two white Trump supporters" beating him, and then kicking him on the ground. Factor the level of racial tension in the country, then multiply that by the widespread hatred for anyone who wears a MAGA hat. Or, at the very least, riots and "retributive" attacks on whites.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but in 2007 Smollett was convicted in L.A. for false informing, serving a two-year probation.

I think these people have driven themselves into insanity. I consider what it would take to motivate me to actually plan, rehearse and do these things. Only insanity could push me to it. Jussie is mentally and emotionally ill. Sane enough to know right from wrong, but too insane to be trusted.

Very thankful no innocent people got roped in to this being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I suspect the CPD knew it was fake from the jump. Glad they had the patience to go where the clues lead them.
