Some are speculating (so they do not have to face the words she is actually saying) that she is has joined a cult and is being led astray by them. This is hypothesized as to why she has made crazy tweets and decisions lately.

I've kinda gotten that vibe here too.

LOL. "Crazy tweets and decisions." Like calling out the ritual mutilation of children and condemning the democrat party. There is a clear headed person here, and it's not the person who thinks these things are crazy.

And by the way, ranked choice voting is for suckers. Just hell no.

For those of us that remember do you think Speaker “Tip” O’Neill would be a Democrat today with this party?

I’d say no.

Tulsi needs to accept and assimilate more information and principles to fully move into the light. This first step is a big one. If she is supported by conservatives with convincing respectful discussion, she could become an ardent ally for righteousness.

What's that saying, 'a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged'

I've got several friends who were quite liberal in their younger days, definitely apart of the free-shit crowd. They got older, paid taxes and raised a family...they're rather conservative these days. Certainly sounds like Tulsi, after leaving Hawaii, spent some time in uniform and after wadding into the deep waters of national politics, had a realization that who she was political aligned with, doesn't jive any more.

I have no doubt that there's many, many others who were staunch Obama voters, and over the last 8-years, are now taking a hard re-evlatuation of their political compass headings.

Yes, Tulsi’s comments and recent actions can and should be questioned to see if she really means it.

But just remember this quote, “I didn’t leave the Democratic party, the Democratic Party left me.”― Ronald Reagan

It was all well done and very articulate.

See, the problem with this catchy statement of hers is that, she can still have her past position of "sensible gun control" (reinstating the federal AWB, banning hi-cap mags, requiring UBC, closing the gun-show loophole) Roll Eyes, but at the same time claims right to self defense and defense against tyranny.

Issue Position: Gun Control

Issue Position

By: Tulsi Gabbard
Date: Jan. 1, 2018

Issues: GUNS

Tulsi has a consistent record of advocating for sensible gun control. She has long called for reinstating a federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high capacity magazines, requiring comprehensive pre-purchase background checks, closing the gun-show loophole, and making sure that terrorists are not allowed to buy guns. Tulsi has an F-rating from the NRA, a 0% rating by the Hawaii Rifle Association, and a 100% rating by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. She is focused on building bipartisan solutions that can actually be passed into law, rather than using the issue as a partisan political football.

Someone should ask her directly, "Tulsi, have you now changed your positions on these specific topics?" "Are you now against reinstating the AWB and against the ban of hi capacity magazines?", and see how she squirms. If she completely turns around, then I'll eat crow.

It wouldn't take much, considering my allegiance isn't to a political party.
My allegiance is to this country, its constitution and bill of rights.

Not Apples to Oranges. The Democrat party he left would be called Right Wing by the media today.

If she ever did actually support an AWB, it was "more in the breach than the observance." From the article I linked, earlier:
quote:

So it was surprising when Amber Tamblyn, a Hollywood actress who has become a leading voice in the Time’s Up movement, called out the congresswoman on Twitter for not signing on to an assault weapons ban supported by most of her Democratic colleagues and for taking campaign money from gun interests.

...

On Feb. 26, U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, of Rhode Island, introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2018 in response to the Parkland shooting. The bill had 164 original co-sponsors, all of them Democrats, including Hawaii Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa, who is running for governor.

Gabbard was not among the group, which included nearly 85 percent of all Democrats in the House. Congressional records show she added her name to the bill March 1, the day after Tamblyn’s public chiding went out to her nearly 100,000 followers.

...

She’s been slow to sign on to a number of gun control measures that have received widespread support among her Democratic Party colleagues. Sometimes she’s just a no-show.

That was the case in 2015 when Cicilline first introduced his assault weapons ban. The bill had 149 cosponsors, including late Hawaii Rep. Mark Takai, who, like Gabbard, served in the Hawaii Army National Guard. Gabbard never added her name to the bill.
Point being: She's apparently been lukewarm on gun control, at worst. Hell, we've had Republicans that have been more anti-gun than her.

I thought Gabbard announced that she was leaving the Democrat Party, not that she was running for public office as a Republican. What’s with all the litmus tests?

For many people there is no option other than being either a Republican or Democrat. So, in Tulsi's case, if she's not going to be a Democrat anymore, she must want to be a Republican, therefor is subject to Purity Evaluation.

Exactly.
This is a good thing. More Dems should follow suit.

BUT, just to stir the pot a bit...
There is already rampant speculation that this is step 1 to being chosen by DJT as a running mate.
We shall see.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Would seem Rob Schneider has jumped on the Tulsi Gabbard train...

She is a military officer, a former MP, a shooter, and has spoken openly about the folly of the liberal party, which puts her far above the trustworthy quotient of 90% of career congress critters in my book. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and hoping she will do good things. I have heard you Tulsi, not let's see what you do.
