You don't need an account in order to purchase items on eBay or any website that utilizes PayPal. Unless you're referring to selling items? I actually don't know. I never sold anything on ebay.

eBay now manages payment on their own platform. A change that many sellers didn't really like either. Since eBay cut them off, I don't know what the value of a PayPal account would be. Many merchants still allow payment by PP, but they also allow direct CC payments.

As an aside, $6B loss isn't enough for these woke bastards. Bleed them dry!

Yup. I'd been with them since 2009, and deleting my account was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made.

You don't need an account in order to purchase items on eBay ...
Until recently you did for many purchases, because that was the only payment method many individual sellers accepted.

But now...?

I haven't been keeping track of happenings at eBay very well. That does sound vaguely familiar. If I find that, at eBay, I can do w/o PayPal I may very well dump it, as eBay is my only likely future use.

Are you saying I can use a CC on eBay, and eBay handles the payment to the seller?

ETA: Looked it up, and, yes, you can. Ok, maybe time to make PayPal go away.

Cut them off? When did that happen? As recently as June I made an eBay purchase, paid via PP.

That was an advantage of PP: Limiting exposure of your CC info.

Btw: For those who may not be aware: PayPal owns Venmo.

That is what I just did.

Wasn't hard, just a few clicks...after I figured out that the button was in Settings.

I then called CS in the PI and verified that all my details had been deleted

Getting to be quite a few eBay merchants that accept Apple Pay. Your CC info doesn’t go anywhere.

I'm quite certain you always had the option to check out as a "guest." Meaning the payment goes through PayPal, but you still didn't need an account.

I just closed my account after deleting some auto payments and my payment info on file. Is there something else I need to do? I didn't get any questions on why I'm closing...not that I care.

I've had my account since 2002. I tied to delete my account tonight but 30 minutes has gone by and I still haven't received the confirmation text to enter the code to finalize deleting the account.
