I’ve owned two 1997 Land Rover Defender 90’s in the past. I really regret selling the white one with about 50k miles on it. I want another one but finding them is difficult and the prices are crazy high.

Lol brother from another mother! 1970 XKE roadster. Loads of fun but 1 hour on the road = 2 hours on jack stands 1994 300ZX. Loved that car

None. If it meant that much to me I would have kept it. Haven’t found that “one” yet but it’s going to be the next performance car I buy. Whatever I decide on will be permanent in the stable. I quit the buy/sell/trade bs many years ago. Looking forward to the new Golf R and the new STi then deciding between them. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

When I was in high school my Mom drove a '71 Chevelle SS, baby blue with a white convertible top. Loved it. Nowadays it's my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Top down, doors off, you can't beat it! Hell, is other people! J-P S

BMW 550i for me. Just a fantastic car, V-8 with about 450 HP, tremendous handling and brakes. Fantastically comfortable to drive and it stored a lot of stuff in the trunk. 145mph was all the cojones I had, the car was rock solid. I thought "if we have anything happen I could be dead". 24mpg at 85-90 mph on the highway, that is where it liked to run, had plenty of power and torque to hit 120 very quickly

I'd say a 1995 Toyota Corolla. Not an exciting car, but the most reliable. I got it used with 18,000 miles, put over 180,000 more on it and only got rid of it because I wanted something newer (2002 Tundra). It never left me walking. A starter and a drive axle were the only serious repairs, and they gave me warning and time to fix them. One set of front brakes. Still had the original rear brakes, wheel bearings, alternator, water pump and other things that commonly break. Two timing belts, but those are wear items and maintenance. (I do all my own work.) Although my 2009 Corolla has also never left me walking, its repair record has not been as good as that '95.

I've owned several fun vehicles. If I had to choose just one, probably my 1992 YJ Wrangler. Sadly, when I moved to a condo, I no longer had a place to work on it (and Jeeps do require a bit of extra care to keep going), so had to sell it. 1985 Toyota 4x4. White. Standard/manual everything, including, of course, the manual- locking free-wheeling hubs. Loved that truck, but like all of its era and bed design, it was a rust bucket in the making. Rust eventually got the frame as well, and that was the end. Had it eighteen years.

Man Once Child Twice |
Two I’d love to own again Can’t remember exact year, but around a 79 Saab 99. Built like a tank. Nice riding, sliding sunroof, friends always wanted to drive. Threw them the keys and watched as they never could figure out the keys went between the front seats. Second, a 72 VW Camper Bus. Lots of fun, no power, but was simple to fix and was the perfect concert vehicle. Packed 6-8 ppl in and off we went. Beer in the icebox, always had a place to sleep.

1971 Chevelle Malibu that would have made Kowalski proud, even if it wasn't a MOPAR. Bought it in '72 and got to work on it. When I was stationed at Ft. Carson I used to race to Salt Lake city and back and to Kansas city and back for real money. It would start running super smooth @ 115 MPH and the speedo only went to 150 , so not sure how fast it went. I left it at my Parents when I went contract after ETS ('79) and they sold it when I was out of Country in '86 when they moved. The guy they sold it to wrecked it and all 4 in the car died. I always wanted to do another Vanishing Point Car, but got into Overlanding and off-road so it never happened. My 2nd place was the '73 Highboy 3/4 ton Ford. Sold it to a buddy of mine and he's still got it after 25 years.

Mine was a lime green, special order color. I was the second owner, got it with 7,200 miles on it. First owner was a doctor who bought a new one every year. He apparently went through the special order catalog and ordered one of each, there was nothing that Porsche could have put on the car that was missing. Great car, it was stolen. Year or so later I was doing a consulting job for the Chicago PD, interviewing officers and supervisors from various departments to determine what was needed in a new computer communication system. One of the officers was demonstrating a stolen vehicle tracking system. I asked him to input my Porsche's VIN: 9111110660 -- this led to the arrest of an "equal opportunity" management trainee, employed at Sears HQ, and the location of the car at a shop in Wisconsin. Drove up to Wisconsin with the idea of buying it back, and was heartbroken to see the remains of a stripped car, interior, engine, transmission, all gone, and somebody had applieda coat of black paint by hand, you could see the brush marks. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

It's all part of the adventure... |
My #1 favorite was the 1978 Lincoln Town Car my father traded to me when I was in community college; Mom had gotten a settlement and was buying Dad a 1983 Cadillac, and at the time I had a 1980 Dodge Mirada CMX. Since the trade-in value was close (I think he was being overly generous), he offered to swap with me. I loved that land yacht! With its 460 V8 dual carb motor I would get about 10 mpg if I was careful. It floated wonderfully down the highway, but if I needed to pass or merge, and I stepped on it, holy smokes it would move! The back seat was like a sofa (I was 17-18 years old at the time; fill in the blanks ) I really miss that car. Another favorite is the 1969 Buick LeSabre that I was going to buy from Dad in 1991, but as a young SSgt with a baby on the way, I gave it back to him. It had a 350 V8 with dual Hollywood Glasspacks. I wish I could’ve kept that one, too! There are many more that I miss for various reasons, but those are the standouts. My favorite vehicle was a 1999 green 2500 Dodge Ram with a 5.9 Cummins. I probably would've kept it longer than the five years I owned it, but I needed a bigger truck. A very close second is my current vehicle. A 2012 Toyota 4Runner trail.
