For cars I really loved my 1999 Mazda Miata it was pretty and fun as all get out.
I sold it for a 2003 Porsche 911. The Porsche is much faster and almost as analogue
as the miata. It is way more comfortable and practical but you do pay for it. The two things I don't like about the Porsche is the cost of everything and the shifter feel. The 996 Poesche shifters generally suck and the Miatas are great so it was a big step down, there are kits you can get to improve it but look to spend $1,000+.

A good NB generation Miata is around $6,000 a good 996 generation Porsche is going to be around $20,000.

For Motorcycles I really miss my candy apple red Honda 919.

  • You rock V-Tail. I had a 72 911T also and it was my favorite car I have had so far. It was Tangerine Orange. I should have never sold that car but I was dumb kid.

Mechanical fuel injection on those was amazing.

That would be a beat up 1965 Triumph Spitfire I drove in high school. A previous owner had tweaked the engine so it had a bit of grunt and sounded great. Going around a corner I could drop down a gear and goose it to break the back end loose in a power slide. Spin opposite lock and I could feel the rear suspension settle and we were on our way. I loved that car.

Pennsylvania roads and rust were her demise.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

It would be a tie between my 1972 TR6 and my 1963 VW convertible. I sold the Triumph to buy a sad old convertible VW and restore it.

My old 1964 Ford Falcon 2 door, 4 speed, rebuilt 289. It qualifies as a dream car cause it was a nightmare. Drove it in high school and a few years after. There was always something going wrong with that temperamental bitch but when she ran I could smoke almost anyone local.

1972 Karmann Ghia convertible in yellow. Swapped out the cam and jugs to take to 1835cc. Put dual Kadron carbs on it. It was a pretty fun car to drive and was pretty fast off the line.

I have two favorite cars, both Porsche’s.

The first is a 2003 Boxster S bought through European Delivery and in celebration of our 20th anniversary and my wife successfully completing a complicated heart procedure...perhaps the best handling road car I’ve ever driven.

The second is a 2007 GT3RS. No explanation necessary. If you want to find out what a true sports car was meant to be strap yourself in and hold on. The car is more capable than perhaps 99.9% of the drivers out there.

    We still have both cars...

1985 Jeep CJ7 with the 4.2L inline 6 w/5spd stick. Loved that Jeep, and had some really good times in that thing.

It was metallic copper (think shiny new penny) with a black hardtop. Just the right amount of chrome and had custom upholstery to match the black and copper as well. Did not have a/c because JEEP. Never had the top on unless it was just crap weather or freezing.

That was my high school and college mode of transportation. Again great times were had in that Jeep. Wink

In 1969, three of us (15 years old) tried talking this girl's single mother driving us in her early 1960s VW convertible like this one from the Pacific Northwest to Woodstock. We told her it was only like 3 inches away on the map. The mom kindly declined. Good decision on her part thinking back. Smile

30 years ago I had a 1972 Chevy Impala. Wasn't much to look at, but it had a Chevy 350 with a Rochester 2GV carb and a turbohydramatic transmission. Simple as it gets. Smile

I can't pair things down to just one, so...

1958 Triumph TR-3A was my first real sports car and was tweaked with Weber sidedrafts, bored out engine (150ci from 121.5ci), and beefed up suspension. It was a hoot!

1999 Subaru Forester L that after 22 years has finally been retired. I include not so much because it was special but because the damned thing was durable and ran rings around other AWD and 4x4 in severe conditions.

2003 Honda S2000 AP1 I still have. It simply is an iconic classic that always brings a smile to my face.

A 1977 metallic midnight blue Dodge Tradesman van. The Tradesman had a very streamlined look. Capt seats, ivory blue and beige carpet in the entire back end. Tinted windows all around. Absolutely gorgeous! Bought it in Jan of ‘78 and didn’t drive it for a month because it was socked in to the roof by snow in State College, PA. Moved to Florida shortly thereafter!
