Just had power come back on about 30 minutes ago. No damage other than a few shingles blown off and for that I am very happy. A lot of trees were down in central Florida and I cut a bunch of them this morning before I left work.

A big thank you to all the electric guys who got my power back on!

Glad everyone has fared well for the most part. I hope that holds true for our place as well.
ROTNDAD has graciously offered to go check my place for me when the roads get opened back up in the next couple days.

This place is the greatest.

Do we have any members in Bonita Springs?
My best friend's mom's place is there, and we're wondering how the area fared.

Both were out of town before the storm arrived, and neither has received word from friends/neighbors.

God bless America.

A kind neighbor took some pics of my home in Cape Coral. Lots of palm branches down, my lanai screens are ripped and shredded but the cage held together. It was all replaced just two or three years ago when a tornado shredded it. I'll know more when I head down Thursday. Hopefully the power and Internet will be working by then. It could have been much worse.

Wife and daughters are OK near Sebastian. Power went out at 7PM (I was still offshore enjoying the balmy Gulf of Mexico at 20+ ft) and I couldn't get hold of her until late this afternoon. I was getting ready to hijack an S-92 from Bristow by then (is it hard to fly a helicopter? Wink) Looks like they will be without power for a while, we went 5 days without power after Matthew with much less tree damage than Irma. Lots of trees down in my area, possibly a couple of small tornados, but no damage to my house, though my neighbor 2 houses over has most of a 100 yr old oak in his pool and jammed under his porch.

What a difference right now vs 24 hours ago...

Anyone from Largo that can provide an update? My in-laws are heading back to their home in two days, worried about the trees on their street and what they might find.

Here I am lying in bed trying to get a nap in before I go back to work at 2am. Power has been out all day and it came back on at 11pm. Alright! I thought to myself. No cold shower tonight. As I was powering on my computer and waiting for my cable modem to finish booting, the power went out again and hasn't come back on yet. Yay. More cold showers in my future. At least I can use the microwave at work for a hot meal.

South Florida here. That was a bumpy ride!!! Never lost power, only tv and internet. My fence around the house is gone, but that's it. I am very happy about that.

Did Tampa, around the bay, get the storm surge? Son lives on ground floor, about 500' from bay in an Apt. Bugged out to Tn. Not sure what to expect when he gets home.

No power. Which is brutal.

Some water got in.

Thankful.

My mom lives in Clearwater. She doesn't have any power and a leaking roof.

Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.

Power back noon today. Dispatched refugees back to coast. Eating remainder of emergency rations. Need to restock booze and beer.

Being just to the east of the eye, the mountain took a direct hit with big trees on power lines everywhere. Basically, much of the Suwannee Valley's power lines will need re-stringing. This is when you find out how dark and quiet North Florida used to be.

Posted this in the other thread but I will add it here also.

My grandmother lives in Ft. Myers. She's with family in MD so no worries there.

They estimate her power will be back on Sept. 22.

A neighbor walked the house and everything is dry. The only damage he saw was a tree fell and ripped a gutter and downspout off. Didn't see any roof damage but there are parts I don't think he could see. But no water damage inside is a good sign. If that's the only damage we will be happy.

Someone is going to go down and check it all out but likely wait till power is restored since the house seems to be OK except for minor damage that doesn't affect the integrity of the house.
