Thank Mike

We should be good as long as none of the 100' oaks decide to go tits up on my roof. Plenty of Rum and Bourbon. Amazing we still have power... I suspect Irma will rectify that shortly.

I have friends in Tampa and they are getting 70s mph wind. They sent me a video of the noise. Every once in a while you would hear a ting like shooting steel.

He is happy to report his Direct TV is still working.

I, however have Comcast..... which goes down if it gets humid. Smile

Prayers all stay safe.

We lost power here in Martin County around 6:30 PM. Went out to survey damage briefly a few hours ago and noticed a fish in the driveway lol. The winds are still howling and the rain is relentless. Streets are obviously flooded.

According to my Nest app my house in west broward has power restored. Can't wait to survey damage in the morning and see if I can make it back.

It's painfully difficult to sleep without AC in this heat with what sounds like having the whole house run through a drive through car wash.

Boca Raton, no power or phones. On generator - bit more than I thought, at peak my weather station registered 73 mph steady and 93 mph gusts. Lost two 4 year old coconut palms, one smashed a 10' section of my dockside railing and fronds beat up bow of my boat. Will assess in morning. Blowing 30-40 steady with some 50 mph gusts still.

We plain got lucky. Period. Pretty sure my brothers place in Upper keys is toast, my dads boat may be banged up but ok. We start to figure this out tomorrow.

Worst of it now here just south of Tampa, still have power, gusts not that bad. Eye "feature" now in Bartow area heading for Lakeland. Be safe up there.

Take care guys. Been through this several times. Take your time cleaning up, that is when the majority of injuries occur. I used to do all the clean up myself, not anymore. I have plenty of knowledge on how to proceed later with insurance issues etc. Be patient. Katrina taught me that. Be grateful that things were not worse. Keep us updated.

My mother, in the Ocala National Forest NE of Umatilla (close to Paisley for the locals), did not go to the shelter.

She is hunkered down in a shipping container at a neighbor's.

Looking at the local radar, she'll get a near direct hit within the next couple of hours. I've got no communication with her presently. She's 65 and not in perfect health. It's several miles on a clay road to civilization. Hoping for the best.

Chongo,
Weather terrifies me. I HATE spring in the south. I always think every severe event is a solid Smiting from God ready to kill every living thing in its path. I am damn near phobic.

That being said that is NEVER the case and statistics always favor folks being just fine. Maybe a little damage but rarely any real loss of life.

All I am trying to say is your mom will be fine. Terrified as you are but fine. It's usually the stupid folk who get them selves hurt.

I know she will be fine but prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

Besides you don't get to be a stubborn old coot by not being lucky or tough or both.

Take care.

Chris

Check in from south Tampa. We lost power at about 7:30 last night. My side of the street always looses it first. Across street shining brightly. I fell asleep to high winds and rain about 9:00.

Eye feature has gotten pretty big. The calm (and a beeping battery back up) woke me at 1:30.

Looks like the south side of the storm will be here in 30 min or so for round 2.

No real damage to report. Some limbs down, nothing big and all in yards/street. My survey of the surrounding houses looks pretty good. When things calm a bit tomorrow, I will have access to a lifted jeep and a four wheeler and a chainsaw . Time to help out the community

I worked yesterday in Refugio (Texas), very near landfall of Harvey. It was surreal, hearing the play-by-play of Irma making landfall amidst the twisted and razed structures.

Stay safe, and may damages be minimal with few disruptions.

Lost the pool screen at 2100 Lost power at 0300. Still significant wind. Barn looks ok from a distance but I'm not going out yet.

Missing some shingles.

All people and guests safe so far.

I'm 6 miles south of Groveland west of lake Louisa.
