We are still expected to get a hurricane up here. Depending on how far west the eye goes, we could still see category two or maybe even three winds, but I'm hoping it won't be that bad. Either way it's better than what is expected in Naples. Now I just have to wonder when I can go back and what I will find.

If you don't mine me asking, what part of Orlando are you in?

I'm in Sarasota county. The storm shutters are up, and we were prepared to ride out the storm. But yesterday, when the forecast shifted the storm track to the Gulf Coast, the Mrs. and I bugged out. We're staying at a friend's place in the western panhandle. Not too far from you, Sigmonkey.

Traveled all last night. Traffic was heavy in some spots heading north. Every rest area was packed with hundreds of cars and trucks, like refugee camps. It was surreal.

Glad we are out of the bull's eye. Praying for the safety of my neighbors who stayed, and for all of our forum members in the storm's path.

Wind vs Water. Insurance companies are supposed to pay for wind driven water, not flooding. Huge suits here in Mississippi regarding that. Who is gonna pay the bill. Here is some information:

Thanks. I forwarded the article to my friend.

If the retention pond overflows, it will be as a result of the wind and rain from the hurricane, so there may be an argument he can make. It certainly qualifies under the "Named Storm", doesn't it?

The conclusion, though, says property owners should have flood insurance, so we'll see what happens.

Our good friends left Ohio a few days ago for their home in Naples. We texted them and they said they are boarded up and intend to stay thru the storm.
Been thru a couple evacuations myself..not fun.
Going back to the damage...snakes, spider..scorpions not fun either.
Our friends said they will call us after the main part of the storm has moved thru.

We're in Dunnellon hunkered down waiting and watching. We are on a well/septic with the well pump, fridge, freezer, ac, lights and outlets tied to our propane fueled generator. Plenty of food, water, etc. for several weeks. Adult children are in Ocala. Hoping for the best, prepared for worse.

Hunkered down here in West Boynton Beach. A few tornado warnings a bit north of us but we have power/cable and are good to go so far.
Don't really expect much for a few hours.

Good luck to all

Some wind and rain, several tornado warnings so far. No power loss as of yet, but should be worse overnight and in the morning.
