Mueller is asked would he agree that no one in DoJ has the power to exonerate anyone.

Mueller: I have to pass on that

Why ?

Mueller: Because it embroils us in a legal discussion

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Did you ask the DoJ to expand your SC scope related to the 2 Aug 2017 scoping memo from Rosenstein ?

Mueller: without looking at the memo, I couldn't answer that

he can't remember what his scope was

Did you ever make a request to expand your scope ?

Mueller : yes

Was that ever denied ?

Mueller: I'm not going to speak to that

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

2 years later and we don't even know what Mueller was asked to investigate

As this goes on...he comes across as a stuttering idiot who is in an uncomfortable situation that he does not like...I think he likes to be the one asking questions (or having his staff do it for him) rather than being on the other end. The dims are not having a good day in front of the American people.

Just heard him questioned about the term collusion and he couldn't remember the the more legal term he used all day was conspiracy.
The Republican questioning him at the time had to help him at the end but he couldn't find the word himself for at least 30 seconds.
Painful to listen to as he really sounds like he is having memory issues.

And to think the Democrats spent time "rehearsing" for these hearings, and spent time prepping with Mueller.

Imagine if they had just winged it.

Show me the difference in outcome.

It's been a while - has this been a clusterfuck or a goat rope?

regarding the OLC issue

quote:

No.

That is why it is such a big deal.

The latest example is this morning. DEM Rep Lieu asked Mueller :

"the reason you did not indict Donald Trump is because of OLC opinion stating you cannot indict a sitting president, correct ?"

Mueller: "That is correct"

about 2'55" into video here:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...-decision/vi-AAENKT6

Mueller: ‘Correct’ that I didn’t indict Trump because of OLC decision

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If AG Barr heard that this morning, I bet Mueller got a call at the break between the committee sessions today.

Mueller also said in his report that he didn't make a decision on obstruction because of the OLC position.

BWAAHAHAHAHAA!!

Wolf Blitzer has a full panel on CNN - hell, they even brought out ol' Nancy Grace just to make sure that every clown in the circus was out cavorting around the ring.

Wolfie would've settled for anything - ANYTHING! But as he went around the panel, all he heard, over and over, was that Mueller bent over backward to avoid endorsing the idea of an indictment, the Democrats have to be humiliated about serving up a nothingburger, and Trump is unquestionably winning the battle over this issue.

Now they're trying to console Blitzer by saying that they "just want to emphasize" that the Democrats hit a home run in accomplishing what they set out to accomplish. What's that, you say? "Informing the public." IOW, the Dems did a great job of cherrypicking information every chance they got and presenting all the tired old nonsense arguments that they've been repeating since this began. Not that it could be anything else, since they didn't have a John Dean, a tame witness who was actually there and is able, willing and eager to hang a President out to dry. Of course, Nancy Pelosi is now (they say) much farther away from being willing to press an impeachment...

This was a miserable experience. Hell, how could it be anything else? But its shaping up to be both a political and legal win that'll leave the Dems absolutely deflated.

ETA: They just said it. They just said the "F" word. "This has been a failure."

Hell, I may actually catch the Rachel Maddow show tonight.

Doddering old fool is right. There's NO WAY IN HELL this guy was running this investigation.

The only thing he was running was running to the 4 pm early bird special at the old folks home!

Mueller can't even recall which President first appointed him!

It's my opinion that Mueller "ran" this investigation as long as he could milk it for what it was worth, and then hoped to slink away in the dark of night.

Remember, he originally declined to appear before Congress. He did so, apparently, to avoid having to be subpoenaed. But his mandate to keep the topics "under purview" was his out.

At one point, he was asked if (I'm paraphrasing) if he could address the subject of Russian collusion. "I'm sorry, that's not under my purview."

Say what??? The entire freaking investigation was about Russian collusion! WTF?

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

For a number of months several of the bloggers who cover the Russian investigation every day have been saying they didn't think Mueller really ran the team.

The suspicion was that prosecutors like Weissmann, Zebley, Rhee, Quarles etc were running the show while Mueller was the frontman who brought "credibility"

They needed a "Republican" to head the DEM team.

I didn't believe that before, but now after hearing Mueller testify, that theory could well be true.

How sad. Every part of this traitorous farce was false and built to deceive. The most involved frame job I ever heard of.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

adding

I didn't watch all of the Mueller testimony but my impression is the Republicans on these committees did a good job. They asked the questions that needed to be asked over and over despite Mueller's refusal to answer much at all.

The Republicans have shown they know what happened.

Donald Trump Jr. ✔
@DonaldJTrumpJr

How can anyone credibly say they investigated something without looking at any of the origins of the entire thing... it’s dumbfounding.

2 years and almost $50,000,000 & and he doesn’t have a clue to how it started? GTFO

Serious question: Has Mueller even heard of Mueller?

Big Grin

The long-simmering suspicion that it was Weissman and the 19 Angry Democrats who were actually in charge here -- with Mueller providing cover as a front man, just as Christopher Steele provided cover as a front man for conspiracy theories first adduced by Sidney Blumenthal and Cody Shearer -- gained a lot of credibility today.

What is that Barr said of that snitty letter that "Mueller" sent to him? "It seemed staffer-driven," or something like that.

This is the Weissman Report. Let's call things by their proper names.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
