'Jazz hands'? Clenched fists, in the video I saw; and he chose not to go hands-on with a crazy woman at a sporting event with his son right there. He chose wisely. If the loon had laid claws on his boy, you'd have seen a different outcome. This message has been edited. Last edited by: RichardC,

Dad was in a no win situation. Play tough guy and maybe the situation escalates and he’s the one getting doxxed. Do what he did and part of the Internet comes for him for not meeting their definition of manliness. None of us were there. We can only guess what our response would have been in that situation in that moment. I’d like to think I would have told her “my ball, beat it” but who knows?

If the dad had gone full on Steven Seagal and taken her down with aikido and then eaten her, that would be really bad seeing it in HiDef. Smart move was to recognize she was batshit crazy and let her have the ball. Karma will find a way to get her.

Whoever she is, and I'm sure people know the media are heavily concealing her identity. _________________________

Well, yeah. If I knew her identity, I would not give it up. People are crazy - somebody would burn her house down. I believe her life is genuinely in danger. I think she deserves some penalty for being such a nutcase, but she did not commit a capital offense. It is time to let her go and move on. She has a life sentence of living with her miserable self. That is punishment enough. Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

Probably not allowed in a ballpark, but what if you encounter such a person while carrying a gun? Now you have an extra obligation to de-escalate and withdraw. "The Almighty, He put some livin' things on this earth so a man can eat." - Festus Haggen, Gunsmoke

Her unexpected touch caused his arm to tingle like a divining rod, triggering a "must egress from harpy proximity" response. "What token can I give to get a spitting crazy bitch out of my face?" "Look, a baseball!" Small price indeed.

The kid also got to meet our new outfielder on the Phillies; Harrison Bader who is turning out to be one hell of a trade acquisition so far: This was the guy who hit the HR ball that caused this whole kerfuffle

Before my dad passed away, he was living at the Philadelphia VA community living center. As a World War II B 17 bomber, he was treated like a rockstar. One day, a majority of the Philadelphia Phillies came to visit these guys. They gave them all hats and sweatshirts. It was a very nice gesture. To this day, I still have a Philly sweatshirt. The thing I like about it the most is it's large bulkiness, which is perfect for concealed carry for my Sig 229. I understand the anger and the sentiment, but the father made the right decision, given that the harpie didn't put any hands on the child. And his decision turned into gifts and attention that massively outweighed the baseball that the banshee stole. And she, really, has nothing. She cannot show that ball off to anyone, or display it in a prominent spot in her home without reminding her family and visitors that "Oh, you're the one...". Maybe she can keep it in her nightstand and, late at night, she can pull it out, hold it close and whisper sweet nothings to it. Dad and son won, big. .

It seems to me the dad initially tried to stand his ground, but once the full fury of the crazy Karen reared itself, he rightly deescalated the situation.

Regardless of what the right thing to do consisted of , there is no way I could have given her that ball . I may have just thrown it back on the field or further into the stands but I would not have rewarded her behavior by surrendering the ball to her . No way ..

That would have been a solid move on his part. Hard to argue with just throwing it back.

I've had to square off and stand up to various people in union plants. Workers, union stewards, even other mangers. They always get in your face, try to intimidate you and bend your will. And you have to stand your ground. It takes mental toughness, but also the understanding that it's all puffery and posturing because they can't lay a hand on you lest they lose their job and get handed over to police. They know this too, so in the end you don't have to budge. I would have been inclined to tell the woman "I'm sorry no, now go back to your seat". She can scream and yell as much as she wants, but the answer is still no. After a little while, either she gives up or resorts to physical violence. And if it's physical, she goes to jail. Deep down I think the Karens know that and will back down if you don't bend. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lefty Sig,

Agree. I don’t care if the dad got $1 million. He took the ball away from his own son and gave it to that crazy woman. At the end of the day the dad did not stand up for his son. The dad knows it and what’s most devastating, the son knows it. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor
