Oh, yes, "devastating". Goddamn, man, do you think you can make your point without the hyperbole? That kid is just fine. Don't think so? Tell me how this has turned out.

How did it turn out? If it was me, when the chips were down, my Dad caved to a crazy woman and didn’t stand up for me. Period. Fortunately, my dad was nothing like this weakling. He stood up for right and stood up against wrong. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

No, the question is not about you and your dad. The question- which I feel was perfectly clear- is how did things turn out in this instance. Tell me that.

I actually think it was a good lesson for the kid. Don't sweat the small stuff. Everything is small stuff. In the end, he got a better deal. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Ruger, I think you’ve lost the plot. At the beginning of this thread, I thought the woman had the ball in her hand and after the thousand reviews I’ve had available to see, I realized she wasn’t even in the same row that the ball fell in, much less the same seat - that guy had every right to it as well. That’s not to say I don’t think he staged that mock throwing his hands up. I think he heard her pounding the pavement right behind him, yelling the whole way, and he tried to get the ball to his kid quickly so everyone could see the intent (not for him, but for his boy) and hoped maybe she’d chill. But as noted, he had the spotlight and he handled it the right way - there was nothing chicken about that. He played the crowd, de-escalated the situation, and he won. He’s a smart man, and if I were his son, I’d be proud! Also, a lifetime story to share with his kids and grandkids! I can’t believe you’d want him to battle it out with a middle-aged woman? That’s not cowardice, that’s cleverness. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

I truly feel terrible for that poor child. I can just imagine his anguish as he's cruising in his new RV, enroute to see the World Series. I see years of therapy ahead for him. Utter devastation.

No, that's not how it turned out. You expressing your opinion that the father is a coward is merely that- an opinion. I'm talking about the factual turn of events. What happened? Come on, you can do it, painful as it may be for you to state.

The Dad was NOT a coward. He outright showed his son how to handle loonie in public, the only way possible. Sure dad could have knocked the asshole right out of her. But then who would be the victim? Son will understand years from now. Dad acted like a grown up. The petulant child is famous now. Wonder how it's going at work for her... Violence is the first tool of the unintelligent. 100%. When encountering an exceptionally frenzied crazy woman, fighting should be last on your list. I think the lesson to his son was the right lesson too. Defuse and get distance. IMO -- That's the difference between a man who progress through life, succeeding in his career and amassing wealth, and a guy who knows his defense attourny by first name.

Imagine the family (they were all present), watching the father knock Karen on her ass and she is injured, (not a stretch seeing as there is nothing but metal, concrete and slope). Security shows up and takes holds him, or even takes him down into a struggle. Cops show and arrest him and drag him off. Family is now inconvenienced and worse. Father has an arrest, from simple battery to felony, and possible conviction as well as civil lawsuit and damages. All for a ball. (or "principle", for those who want to argue that point) Maybe the dad is the biggest pussy to walk the face of the earth, but it took balls to NOT make that choice. (because he had the ability to put her on her ass with a shove) There is a time to fight and a time to win. There is a time to make war and prevail. And there is a time to simply let the small shit fall by the wayside. This was such small shit. (all that last part in in the Good Book, somewhere...) I am surprised this story got legs like it did. I guess the Jumbotron and social media can make a story out of something as mundane as Philadelphia sports fans being assholes. These after all are the children of the fans who chased Santa Claus off the Eagles sidelines with snowballs. I also remember a MNF game being paused because someone was throwing D cell batteries off the top deck of Veterans Stadium into the bleachers below. They had a courtroom with a magistrate on duty inside the Vet so they could arraign fans on the spot after they got arrested during games. Glad it seems to have worked out for the kid. The team really took care of him. Closest I ever came to a foul ball in the stands was at Wrigley Field when I was a kid in the 1970s. It zinged over my head and buried itself in the ribcage of a kid about my age (9), two or three rows behind. While the boy was in shock, stunned and gasping for breath with the wind knocked out of him, a grown man sitting behind him lunged over the top of the kid and snatched the ball from between his feet. Fact is some sports fans are assholes. Jumbotron shaming is not a bad thing.

Has the Karen been doxxed yet? I thought they had the wrong person pretty quickly last weekend, but I never heard anything about the right person or that her life had been turned upside down. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL, Class 2 SOT

I posted earlier that he absolutely made a very wise choice. He stated he was well aware that many eyes were on him and was very conscious that making the wrong choice at that moment could give him and his family grief. Not just hitting back, but just escalating it beyond a disagreement would make him and his son the villain, the subject of scorn, memes, doxxing, public attacks, etc. And simple pride without thinking of the results can be disastrous. Me, I like privacy, being under the radar, the Grey Man. Three times in my life, I was approached by news cameras on the street and I turned them away, no thanks. And prolonging and escalating the confrontation in front of a stadium on Jumbotron, on national TV cameras and countless cell phones, is almost a deathwish to me. No thanks. Someone might have said this already, but I think it would have been hilarious if he held it under her nose. You say this is yours? And then threw it back on the field. Go get it! I personally would have just ignored her, like what is she going to do. His decision was very mature and I cannot criticize it.
