^^^ I second the last two posts on the previous page. And the team's and the player's actions more than made up for it.

And in the end, she got a plain, stupid ball whereas the kid got a bat, signed by the player who made the home run and even got to meet him. Probably some additional swag, too. I wonder if it was the actual bat used to hit the home run? That would be even more cool!

Who got the better deal in the end? The father's actions probably helped make this happen.

Para, you're spot on.

Here is the man and his children speaking about the incident.

The woman has a chance to "redeem" herself.

If she contacted the family and returned the ball, she would be forever elevated and used as an example of how you deal with a "mistake in a moment".

If she doesn't, she will come to despise that ball and the moment that she chose to let her behavior define her.

The fact that his son was right there is interpreted differently by some of you. Oh, he's got to get tough with this insane broad, because her behavior up to that point had been predictable, what with her calm demeanor and cool reasoning of the matter, and if he told her 'no' she would have just thanked him for listening and then walked away.

He did the right thing, refusing to argue with a crazy person. There was time after the incident to discuss it with his son.

But oh, no, he should have whipped out his sack and mercilessly beat this harpy with it, because that's what you would have done, and you wouldn't just be saying that you would do it because you're sitting there armchair quarterbacking the matter after the fact. No, you really would have shown the bitch how things are.

I never said beat her.....just thought the gay hands-up waving to be a bit much.

Yes, he absolutely chose wisely. In an interview I saw, and I think sigmonkey posted the same one, he stated he was well aware that hundreds of eyes in the stadium were on him when he was confronted by Karen. Even his son said that the woman was going to get the ball any way she could. And of course it wasn't just hundreds of eyes, but maybe millions; he said his cell phone started to explode seconds after the confrontation, and minutes later Karen memes were already flooding social media. As the couple at the Coldplay concert recently learned, any public action where cameras and smartphones abound, can potentially get one in a lot of hot water. And the Phillies father did a good job of not only avoiding that situation, but he and his family happily got more than they bargained for in the end.

I don't think anyone wanted to see dad turn Karen's teeth into Chicklets. But, he needed to grow balls and tell her to f*** off. Sorry, the guy's a pussy. And what an example he set for his son. Roll Eyes

dowtownv, how do you know this is correct? Do you see in that thread the statement from the school district?

When there is positive identification of this woman, then post it, but until then, you guys have to be aware that there are people online attempting to gain attention by being the first to "identify" this woman.

I have a 23 year son. He makes me look liberal (sorta lol). Marine Corps reservist full time firefighter. Just saying that to prime the pump that he isn’t a pussy or cuck (I admit I never heard this term used in conversation except in pornography/sexuality now it seems to be more commonplace which isn’t a win imo).

I find he would go to hands very easily if provoked. I am trying to tone that reaction down. Honestly telling a woman to “fuck off” in public is not only a bad look it truly isn’t what I want to teach my son who is watching every move I make that that is acceptable behavior. It is not.

If the father did not return the ball but kept his cool that would have been a reasonable outcome. That bitch was crazy though and walking away from crazy can be a win.

His son didn’t learn the wrong lesson here.

This is the changing of a culture right in front of your eyes. Cowardice is now the norm, instead of men being men. Rather than teaching your son to stand up for himself, now it's OK to teach him to cower.

You can have it, as I want nothing to do with that culture.

The lady must not have kids. I never caught a baseball at a White Sox game but brought my glove along with the other Little Leaguers hoping to get one.

Get over yourself, Charlie Bronson. Your grandiose bullshit fails to make more of this incident than what it is.

I have nothing to get over. I'm right.

And "Charlie Bronson"? I like that. Wink. It fits.

Tell me, as a guy who's presented himself here as a "manly man" over the years, is it OK to cower down in the face of adversity? Look at the guy. He's shaking his arms like a little girl. He quits. He gives up in the face of even the slightest challenge. I don't guess you have a son, but if you do, is that what you want to teach him? Really?

Eh. Maybe it is. I don't care.

You proffer an opinion and then claim that it's right. That's not how it works.

And I'll tell you what- I'll put an end to that swagger of yours in a heartbeat, Mister Big Shit. You watch yourself.

I doubt she makes any money off of that ball by putting it up on Ebay, etc. now. Too many know the story behind it.
