I hope he is on their opening day roster and I look forward to seeing him pitch this year.

Best of luck to Bruce. I always watch for him. Cool

Our local hero, Drew Ellis, had a couple of big games with the Phillies last year while Bohm was injured but was ultimately released and has not got a contract or 2024. Heard rumors about Japan.

Bruce Zimmermann on his time with Orioles: ‘It was incredibly special’

Bruce Zimmermann, who was born in Baltimore and raised in Ellicott City, is one of the few native Baltimoreans to play for the Orioles. A graduate of Loyola Blakefield High School, he played at Towson University before transferring to Mount Olive University in North Carolina.

Zimmermann was drafted in the fifth round by the Atlanta Braves in 2017 and traded to the Orioles as part of the deal that sent Kevin Gausman and Darren O’Day to the Braves on July 31st, 2018.

He made his major league debut on September 17th, 2020 in front of an empty Oriole Park during the pandemic-shortened season.

The 29-year-old left-hander was 8-10 with a 5.57 ERA in 38 games from 2020-2023. Zimmermann spent the 2024 season with Triple-A Norfolk and signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 19th.

Discover Milwaukee Brewers 2025 Spring Training Hidden Gems

The Milwaukee Brewers are spotlighting lesser-known players during spring training, focusing on non-roster invitees who may impact the team in the future. Established players typically use this time to sharpen skills for the regular season, while these invitees must prove their worth to secure potential big-league roles. Highlighted participants include RHP Easton McGee, LHP Bruce Zimmermann, and 2B/C Anthony Seigler, all of whom are seeking to make impressions despite heavy competition. Their performances in Cactus League games will be crucial for their careers.

Tommy john knot on elbow?

Pitchers in professional baseball mostly have very short careers and or spend much of their time in rehab.

It is a sad reality in todays game.

Most guys pitch maybe 5-6 inning max and 90 pitches.

A lot of drafted pitchers, both college and high school have already had a least one Tj surgery.

Watched a TB seattle game the other night. The TB pitcher had three TJ surgeries. Frown

We were on the way to Louisville to watch Bruce pitch for the Nashville Sounds when my wife got a call from her brother, Big Bruce. Big Bruce asked, "are you on the way?" Yes, my wife said.
"Turn around", he said. "Bruce has been called up!" by the Milwaukee Brewers.

It just so happened that the Milwaukee Brewers were playing the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend in St. Louis.

So, we invited my wife's brother Bruce, his wife and my wife's sister to come to our house. We went to both games, Saturday and Sunday hoping he would pitch. But he didn't get called out of the bullpen. Still, we had a great weekend just visiting and attending the Cardinals last two home games of the season.

We did get to go on the field in front of the dugout and visit with him for a bit after the game on Saturday night.

BUT, just announced probable pitchers for tonight:
Bruce Zimmermann for the Milwaukee Brewers vs. the San Diego Padres.

If not, I'm sure I'll be able to listen (on the internet) as well.

Bruce will be wearing #55 on his jersey.

San Diego broadcasters but they will acknowledge the other team’s good play and pitching. Especially if T Gwynn Jr is on. Wink

Is it a September call up only ? Or will he be on the post season roster for the brewers ? My giants are all but eliminated. Happy for you and wish him luck.

I think you've pegged it... unfortunately.
It's most likely that since they've clinched, they want to rest their regular starters.
