I believe VA elected a pretty impressive Lt Governor who happens to be a black woman.

Perhaps Biden should nominate her?

Ya think Stacey Abrams is making calls? Wink

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Does Breyer believe Biden can get through the nomination and Senate approval process in four or five months, or is that an oh-so-polite "fuck you" to those who insist that he step down but who never said the same thing to Ginsberg?

Wait...Can there even be a nomination/confirmation process in the Senate for a seat on the Supreme Court that is NOT yet open. Maybe this is why protocol/custom is to announce retirements at the conclusion of the Supreme Court term. What if Breyer changes his mind in the interim?

That is a good question. Right now there is no vacancy. Can you nominate, hold hearings, and confirm someone for a vacancy that does not exist?

If you can then shoot, the next republican president should get 2-3 justices confirmed and ready to go in case a spot opens up.

No, she's too busy preparing to be the first black woman on Mars, to retrieve the flag Neil Armstrong planted there.

I thought of her, but I think she is even too ridiculous for Biden to consider. I think the same of Maxine Waters. (I hope I haven't given him any ideas . . . .)

Yes of course. The bide administration has never considered any law of any kind. And won't ever. They are the heads of marxist royalty on capital hill.

Ok. So biden will get his black woman on the SCOTUS. She will not only be black, and woman, and because she will be nominated by the bidet administration, and thereby by the potus himself, she will by definition be a well known member of the progressive caucus, and because she is progressive, she will be mad, as all progressives are. So what weill will have then, is a Progressive Mad Black Woman. Or rather, a Mad as Hell Black Progressive Woman on the Supreme Court of the United States. Isn't that just lovely ?

God help us.

My opinion? This is a wash. We aren't trading a Queen for a Rook here. We are trading a Pawn for a Pawn.

The left will trumpet this to energize the base. That's the 'show'. The 'go' will be it's just a leftist replacing a leftist. The court split will remain the same.

Will whomever get confirmed? Absolutely. Between Collins, Romney, Graham, and Murkowski, ONE of them will vote 'Yes'. This will free up Manchin to vote 'No' if he feels like he needs to politically.

End result is the same.

A Pawn for a Pawn.

Don't buy the hype. This is only a distraction.

This "suggested" or "forced" retirement of Breyer certainly indicates their fear of losing house and senate in 2022, but could it also indicate fear of loss of presidency in 2024? It all indicates lack of confidence in rigging elections which I would have thought they are counting on.

Do they really think they can make great impact on voters by making republicans look like racists? Look how readily the repubs voted for kagan and sotomeyor. There has to be something else up their sleeves. I'll just hope the repubs can waste legislative time until the mid terms. But they will probably approve in record time.

^^^ I dunno. After the Garland nomination debacle and the way that Schumer gassed off over passing the raise in the debt limit, I think the Senate Republicans are pretty well primed to let the Dems do it on their own - if they can.

Never underestimate the power of Pushing Turtle McConnell's ego.

Had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine who just happens to be a few shades darker than me. His comment, if the only hiring requirement is color and gender, then every black woman on Biden's list should refuse a nomination by this president until he fully opens the process to everyone so 'if' they were tapped to be the nominee, they would know it was based on more than their skin tone. Nice idea, but that would assume these women have any ethics or integrity which as progressives is almost impossible.
