Hell, a basic economy window seat on any budget airline will get you that high and then some by a multiple of 7.

“The thing is, for the price of a simple airline ticket one could prove that theory wrong. Heck, when I took the Travel Air up to 17,500 to check out a newly purchased portable oxygen system, the curvature of the earth was plain to see from there. I do not believe the sort of altitudes he was trying to obtain are enough to see the curvature.“

I know a flat earther. He’s convinced the windows in aircraft are designed to make the flat earth look round. He saw a video on Youtube about it.

Oh well, at least he stuck the landing...
But don't you know the sun is only 3000 miles away from the earth and the airlines are in cahoots with NASA to lie to us. They really can't fly that high.

OK, but seriously, these guys are not thinking their ideas through to a logical conclusion. I have a friend that is an honest-to-goodness flat-earther. He doesn't believe that gravity exists "because how can birds fly if there is gravity?"

The Qur’an explains it: It says that birds can fly because Allah holds them up in the air.

“I regret that I am to now die in the belief, that the useless sacrifice of themselves by the generation of 1776, to acquire self-government and happiness to their country, is to be thrown away by the unwise and unworthy passions of their sons, and that my only consolation is to be, that I live not to weep over it.”

Amboy...that place, explains at lot Roll Eyes There's A LOT of 'unique' individuals out there in the high-desert, no surprise on this one.

I've heard of this guy, hats off in his perseverance to build his own rocket then strapping- in. I would wager he was a one-man operation, doggedly determined, not to be deterred, to prove everyone that he's right. Roll Eyes Meanwhile, at the Mojave Space Port, the real scientists, pilots and engineers have been laughing at him for years. One less weirdo in the high-desert.

note the tail-light on the left side of the photo.

I think it's a photo of the rocket on the back of a flatbed, that has a hitch.

Wow. What a fantastically fucking stupid way to kill yourself.

I watched the video about 10 times, I know this is sick and morbid but all I could think of was Wiley E. Coyote when his parachute blew off and he just went up, up, up, then down, down, down...BAM!
