He definitely fully checked out for a few minutes there, you can see it in his eyes and frozen facial expression.

I don't believe in term limits for legislators because you end up putting power into the hands of unelected bureaucrats and lobbyists who can just wait out legislators who they don't like.

However, I am sick and tired of congressional office holders acting like being in Congress is akin to a peerage title.

He's held that seat for thirty eight years. By comparison, Feinstein, who was wheeled into session and asked where she was going within the past few months, has only held a seat for thirty one years. I'm sorry, but somewhere along the course of three decades plus in power needs to be damn well enough.

My dad would call those “senior moments” . Fine for when youre retired and living by a golf course, not so much when youre a politician in a major leadership position.

If he had a TIA we can hope he spent the rest of the day lying down in his office.

ETA: I wonder if someone flashed their breasts at him. A good set of breasts can have that effect on most guys.

Ah, the olde "like a dear with headlights' cliche. TIA, for example.

Looked like a cva to me. What's worse, nobody around him really noticed for a little while that he wasn't speaking.

While I appreciate him blocking Garland from SCOTUS, McConnell in my opinion, is holding on to power so he can block legislation detrimental to his family business, China. So there's that.

When you need several “handlers” with you everywhere you go it’s time to go home and live out your remaining years doing anything other than making big decisions for the rest of us.

That power just has to be intoxicating.

Got to be worth something.

It’s worth a Thank You. Thanks Mitch! Now GTFO!
The only reason he’s still there is so he and the wife can continue to rake in cash by the wheelbarrow load while they’ve still got the chance.
He’s what a RINO fossil looks like.

The Turtle is certainly looking a little peaked. No reason for panic, though. They can assign a couple of handlers to him and get several more years of service out of him.

I think when people hear "term limits", their only real point of reference is the president.

20 years is a term limit.
25 years is a term limit.
30 years is a term limit.

Or what about maximum age? Or a standard of health? Pilot certificates require a medical examination. Driver's licenses in many states require more frequent renewal after a certain age.

It need not be too complicated or draconian, but we seem to regularly have scenarios now where the whole country is waiting some of these people out.
