Anyone remember these commercials? Schlitz Malt Liquor https://www.youtube.com/watch?...ab_channel=reelblack

I started seeing it maybe 10-15 years ago, but then it was focused mainly on sexual discrimination and the message was pretty much "Remember, it's against the law to discriminate!" It's only been in the last couple of years, and really since the George Floyd incident, that it's got to be really over the top. White privilege, white guilt, "try to be less white", they're really piling it on. We have a list of articles and books we're supposed to read from, on our own time no less. Titles like "Why not being racist isn't enough."

A friend of mine was in college studying graphic design and worked part time for an ad agency near his school. It was black owned, and he was the only white guy employed there. They had an account with one of the malt liquor manufacturers. He said the company really liked one of their campaigns, and as a reward sent a truck full of product to their offices as a thank you. Being a college kid with no money, he asked his coworkers if they would mind if he took some. They informed him they didn't drink that crap and he was welcome to all of it. The white kid ended up being the only one drinking all of the malt liquor.

A few years ago the head of the Dept at our college pulled me aside, asked for advice. She was a capable lady, CPA, somewhat liberal. Seems she was asked by the VP to "audit" one of the college operations, as there were some irregularities. She did the audit, found some less than kosher matters re the director. She confronted the director who told her, in essence "I am a minority, they can't/won't fire me". I told our Dept head to report the audit findings to the VP, let the VP handle it. (I don't know the outcome). "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. Oh, the ‘director’ retired comfortably, full benefits, never confronted, is my guess.

Just got off the phone with my best friend. He retired from our local Coca Cola bottling plant a year ago. He told me he was down there a few days and ago and what entered his mind was "Where are all the white people that used to work here?" .

White Castle will need to change their name, because you know, white privilege. Cracker Barrel will probably be fine though. What about black coffee? Can I still drink it, even though I'm white? Will Betty Crocker have to change the name on their brownie mix boxes, or the color? This isn't going to stop! How far down this rabbit hole are we going to allow these assholes to take us? I'm afraid we're getting very close to the point of no return, if we haven't already passed it. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." But yet we have Black Entertainment Television, Jet and Ebony magazines and the Congressional Black Caucus. I do t recall White Entertainment Television, White Magazine and the White Congressional Caucus So who are the real racists? Those that keep talking about it and those that keep inventing new ‘wrongs’ I just want my country back

Well, racism is a one-way street. (Minority racism is called social justice). "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. This is the response I got from my email to Coke.... “ Mike, Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company, Throughout the past few days, you have likely seen inaccurate reporting on the content of our recently launched Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training program. The video in question was not part of the Company’s curriculum but was accessible on a third-party platform used for the training. We took immediate action and removed any links from the Company recommended training playlist that could lead employees to that content. We do not support the idea of anyone being less of themselves. Our business is driven by employees of different genders, ages, abilities, orientations, races, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and countries of origin. All of these dimensions add to our networked way of working, learning and leading. We will make sure that we are addressing any opportunities for improvement and continue the dialogue to ensure all voices are heard and respected. Kind Regards, The Coca-Cola Company Consumer Interaction Center, North America” Oh and thanks Vtail for the recipe for the new rum drink. When it stopped being Personnel and became Human Resources....

Nullus Anxietas |
That may be about right. At some point the company I worked for at the time hired a professional HR Manager. I don't know what her department was called before she was hired, but it was definitely "Human Resources" afterward. And it was not long after she came aboard the various "sensitivity" classes started, starting with "sexual harassment." (Boy, did I get the Evil Eye a couple times in those classes. Not for my behavior, but for asking uncomfortable questions ) Thinking about my hire date and various milestones vaguely remembered, I'm going to say this all started at our place somewhere in the late 80's? I always joked that I didn't want to take the sexual harassment training because they couldn't teach me anything new and it would be a waste of my time. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

Unflappable Enginerd |
All this crap really ramped up when personnel dept. became HR as an excuse to pay themselves more, seemingly. When I was in the Navy there was a rating called PN (Personnelman), my wife was a PN. In 2005 the Navy changed that rating to PS (Personnel Specialist), because ya know, cant have "man" in the name of a rating that's comprised by mostly females. __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/
