This is indeed good news; I'm hoping that we can now witness a complete recovery and return to a normal routine in life. And his uninterrupted access to SigForum!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I don’t understand. They can’t block Internet access on his cell phone. Or have they taken his phone away? I mostly use my phone for SIGforum.

Often one's phone automatically connects to local WIFI when available. Disabling WIFI temporarily can fix that assuming cell service is available at location. Also possible he could make a request to have a particular website "white listed" on the content filtering device/firewall.

Good to see Flashguy is on the mend.

He can solve the "no access to SIGforum" problem by either turning off WiFi (assuming adequate cell coverage) or using a VPN.

David is in the same rehab facility he was in last year when he broke his arm.

I plan to stay in touch with him and visit when he moves to a new location. He said he would love that.

He mentioned he has a laptop with him and is able to access a few other boards he is s on but firearms forums are blocked.

I am in the hospital myself now since yesterday morning. SF is black coed here but I have my iPhone as well as VPN access from my laptop.

Just a heads up to everyone suggesting he disconnect his phone from WiFi. I’m pretty certain David is not the smartphone type. Meaning the laptop is likely his only connection.

He fell in his backyard when we were having 110+ deg days. He did not have his cellphone with him.

He was able to roll and drag himself into the shade of his back porch where he had a water hose.

His handyman found him after three days.

He sounded in good spirits considering all he had been through.

It was great hearing from him.

That's the second fall (that we know about), both with significant consequences.

David -- if you're reading this, please consider getting an Apple watch. Starting with the 4th generation, they have fall detection and will automatically call 911 for you. Will also call anybody on your "emergency contact" list.

This is a damned good idea! Last year a close friend was saved by his Apple Watch while on a camping trip. He experienced a heart episode, and the EMT's found him within 10 minutes of his fall. He was air lifted to a major hospital where he spent five days in a coma, but recovered, due to the Apple Watch's fall detection and 911 notification features.

So far, we know of six people who switched to Apple because of this, I'm one of them.

Agreed.

Despite the fact I'm in relatively good shape for my age and rarely fall, that was the main impetus for my last Apple Watch upgrade: Fall detection.

It works, too, as I found out

Yes, we bought one for my 85 year old dad, he fell a few times last year and he's unlike most of us with our phones stuck up our behinds 24/7 but the watch is on his arm....

You can get them at a discount at Apple Refurb, or, at Woot, they always have refurb Apple products.

Update - Apple watch 6 w GPS $199 on Woot.
