You guys don't see how much you contradict yourselves? Convoy organizers say they are going to shut the Beltway down. Para says "Disruption happens to be the point." That's how you get what you want, you disrupt people's lives in a significant way. But when someone complains that their life will be disrupted in a significant way, you mock them by saying they are exaggerating, it will only be "inconvenient." How many posts here scoff at that "inconvenience"? So which is it - the convoy is going to be disruptive, or its impact will only be "inconvenient"? Because it can't be both. | |||

I disagree. Far too long have people just "gone with the tide" because: 1. Their political party told them so 2. The media told them so 3. It's easier to be agreeable and agree to give everyone everything they want instead of standing up for common sense It's long overdue for people, even the little ones, to feel some pain for their lack of critical thinking and inability to respect basic principles without being a hypocrite. "Follow the science..." yeah only if it benefits the liberal agenda. "My body my choice..." yeah only if it's abortion. "Racist, bigot, sexist, etc..." yeah especially when someone presents an argument counter to what they believe, they can't respond with facts so they resort to name calling. Frankly, I wish truckers nationwide would stop delivery to all major cities and let them starve. Watch what happens when they miss 7 meals and see how those "liberal" principles stand up to primitive instincts. | |||

FWIW, I live about 15 minutes from the beltway and you can put me in the SUPPORT column for all the reasons stated herein. Unfortunately for some, freedom and liberty can be a messy, inconvenient affair. Were it me, I’d be telling my kids that the convoy is happening to fight against forces that want to destroy everything this country stands for, not “inconvenience” them. Clearly, I'm speaking of the tactics involved, not political ideologies. We get pissed when BLM blocks a highway yet some here are cheering it on when it fits their narrative. I disagree with these specific tactics no matter who uses them. Speaking of exaggerations....what we've seen so far about the number of trucks involved, yeah, they're not going to be shutting anything down. | |||

Impressive if it's one dude driving from PA and CA at the same time. Relax, you will be OK, peaceful demonstration is still legal and encouraged. If they park their big rigs on the beltway I'm sure they will be ticketed or towed. As far as the strangle traffic guy from PA that is stupid. All they have to do to create awareness is drive around in circles slowly on the beltway, honk horns, and wave flags. I believe the slowest you can legally travel is 45mph. That will bring traffic to a crawl, but nothing much more, since they're coming on Saturday there won't be many people on the road to begin with and I'd think many would avoid the beltway just to avoid the demonstration. If they do something illegal, warn, then ticket, then arrest/tow them. This is not an insurrection, just a demonstration. I know based on your location that you know that the truckers could drive the standard 65+ mph around the beltway during non-rush hour and make a huge mess of things b/c it doesn't take much add'l congestion to slow things down. I can't even imagine a huge convoy of trucks coming in during rush hour, when many lanes (sometimes all) go 5-10 mph. Many people on this forum haven't lived in/around DC and don't understand that its congestion is similar to LA's. This convoy is going to be disruptive, for which I'm very glad, and like you said they don't need to park a single vehicle - just drive in circles around the beltway. There will be a significant gas bill to pay doing so, but the same goes for driving from Cali to the East Coast. | |||
