Agree. Trudeau way over played it. I don't think anything like his Emergency Law will happen here - at least not in Virginia, where we have a conservative governor. One I hope gets a majority in the Senate next year.

If the public in DC is inconvenienced it is not because of the trucker protest.

I think you've nailed that statement. I totally agree. Wishy-washy, luke-warm folks who change with the wind, ARE the problem.

First, our antagonist in this thread may just start voting Democrat due to some honking, flag waving, and backed up traffic. Second, personally I'm considering it. If I get slightly inconvenienced from all this nonsense then I may turn my back on liberty and freedom and start voting for those trying to encroach on it.

We can definitely beat them, in all senses of the word.

If you want to influence and educate people and get them to vote for good conservative candidates who support the Constitution and stuff like that, you may have to take some time to convince people who haven't formed their whole philosophy yet - including young people coming up who don't know much, independents, even those Democrats who are patriotic Americans --- that there are good reasons to do so. You may have to show people who don't quite agree with you some respect. You guys sound like a bunch of grumpy old men that sit on your porch and yell at the kids to stay off your lawn.*

Skins2881, I don't think I'll change my voting pattern yet. I've been voting for conservative candidates since I first voted - for Barry Goldwater for President. I'm all for Freedom and individual rights, and even flag waving, but that doesn't mean I think this convoy is a good idea for conservative causes. It may make conservatives look like they don't give a damn about other people, and it is not likely to encourage anyone who is just starting to think about standing up for conservative values.

And I don't think much of Bob Bolus, one of the organizers of the convoy and self-appointed spokesman, as a conservative. Here's his main quote to Fox News this week: "I'll give you an analogy of that of a giant boa constrictor that basically squeezes you, chokes you and it swallows you, and that's what we're going to do the D.C." Making life difficult for innocent people going about their business just because you can doesn't strike me as effective or principled, which conservatives are supposed to be and usually are.

I looked Bolus up. Is that his name in a big insurance fraud case in 2014? He may not be a good hero for conservatives. Tonight, the media is reporting he's had two flat tires and got lost on his way from Scranton to D.C. leading a convoy with one 18 wheeler and five pickup trucks. Not much of a trucker to hitch your wagon to. If he represents the Freedom Convoy, could this turn into a fiasco? Will that help conservative causes?

Freedom of speech? Yes, come to D.C., have at it. But screwing with little people going about their lives -- some of whom may be latent conservatives who bought their first gun (a Glock) this past year -- doesn't make sense.

*Ad Hominem attack.

My wife has to drive on the Beltway to pick our daughter up from school. Our kid rides the bus an hour each way to get there and home. So, if she stays after, it's a 2hr round trip for us.

So forgive me for saying F your sarcasm and 'apologies'.

You know who's already making fun of the "Freedom Convoy"? My kid. It's a despicable display. The Beltway doesn't even equal DC....it's MD and VA. It's akin to BLM protestors stopping traffic but with more Old Spice and 'murica.

Concur with the statement above about not being a good luck for conservatives".

Theater rehearsals, so, yes she'll be there.

Point stands no matter what day of the week it is. Freedom Convoy = BLM blockades but with Old Spice.

Except that this is for freedom and liberty and natural rights and non-violent. Not like the violent riots based on a false narrative for political and financial gain.

The irony here is first world complaints while these guys are trying to keep you in first world status rather than devolving into third world tyranny.

What use school if you have no liberty and freedom? These guys are peacefully resisting on your behalf. Seems like a little support would be warranted despite the inconvenience.

BLM is a violent, terrorist group whose members have injured innocent people and destroyed property. Feel free to complain because you predict that you'll be inconvenienced but be prepared to be challenged when you post exaggerations.

Just how much bullshit stemming from this ridiculous two year long manufactured crisis are Americans supposed to take? This action is long past due. Should they park their trucks in the desert southwest so that there's no disruption? Disruption happens to be the point, and it's past time for it.

When they come through St. Louis I will be cheering for them. Whether I’m inconvenienced or not.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I was really hoping they'd take the JB Bridge but it looks like they'll be crossing the river on I-70 north of downtown. Frown
