Freedom means you can support them all you want -- and you've got that. But the convoy strike is going to backfire, because it is indiscriminately targeted at many people who already agree with you.

Take a look at traffic on the Beltway someday. I see very few black Suburban's shuttling big shots on the beltway. I see little people like me going to work or going home.

The little people will not consider it an "inconvenience" if they can't get to the INOVA hospital Trauma Care Emergency Room at the Route 50 exit on the Beltway, or if they can't reach their children to take them home at the end of a long work day.

Make your arguments, state your case on vaccines. But don't f*ck with other people's freedom preemptively because you imagine they are against your beliefs.

IIRC the Convoy and it's organizers it's clearly stated they will have open lanes for emergency vehicles to pass.

Not a good enough answer. Life Flight will probably be up anyway. But for the many people who use the Beltway every day for all sorts of things, it will be mayhem. That's the goal, mayhem, right? Cause innocent people mayhem in their lives and they'll support you, that's the logic, right?

Who are these people to interfere with other people's lives, and decide the things the little people think are important don't count? What about people getting to work in important jobs - fireman, nurses, military? (the list goes on). What about people getting home to feed a sick parent at dinner, or take someone to a radiation appointment at INOVA, or changing an old person's oxygen bottle, or getting their child at Day Care before they lock the door at 6 PM? People have thousands of reasons why they need to get somewhere on the Beltway (and it is really the only way to cross the River, so there will be huge bottlenecks).

The trucker's convoy will hurt your cause, turning people who agree with the idea against those who leverage their power against them.

I've said my piece -- I don't want to hijack the thread or dominate it with back-and-forth argumentation. Think about it.

Some people prefer comfort and expediency over liberty and freedom.

What will you stand for?

What are you willing to put on the line? Other than just bitching at those who are risking much.

This is why it’s only 3%

Hello, Justin? Is that you?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I bet a bunch of little people were pissed when their Bohea tea was a bit short in short supply, late December of 1773 in the colony of Massachusetts Bay...

Sometimes you have to rile up the little people so they will grab the balls of the big people.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

If good men do nothing in the face of tyranny, only our blood will be shed and the tree of liberty will never be refreshed. At that point, you’ll have a much larger complaint than inconvenience.

Ah, attack the person if you cannot attack the argument.

I have put it on the line, my friend. As I am sure you (and a lot of other people here) have. And I don't mean just behind a keyboard. I have the chops to have an opinion about freedom and what it takes to fight for it. But don't attack me -- I've never said the cause isn't a good one, after all -- but tell me how screwing up the lives of thousands of little people, many of whom agree with you, will advance your cause. Ask yourself the question how the truckers are qualified to decide what is important to other people and which of their freedoms don't matter.

IIRC the Convoy and it's organizers it's clearly stated they will have open lanes for emergency vehicles to pass.

Well, those organizers have never spent time on the beltway around DC. They may have all intentions of leaving an open lane but add in all the traffic you have on a normal day and there will not be any open lanes.

FWIW I drove the beltway today. I will again tomorrow unless it looks like it will be a mess. If that's the case I will lose money. It sucks but I will take a peaceful protest over burning shit down.

I've heard them say directly that they are NOT going to the beltway, and NOT going to clog downtown.

RoverSig, how many people who live and work in the DC area actually support what the truckers are trying to accomplish?

Ask yourself the question of what brought about the reason for the truckers actions, and how long have those reasons been impacting the freedoms of all the nation, (and what qualified them to decide...) compared to what freedoms a small segment of the nation will have impacted, and for a very short time.

It is a protest by method to make known grievances. And I am willing to bet a great number of people support what they are doing.
