Yeah, lbj ham dappy.

My girls are killing me on the ammo.
But hey, they've converted to the just cause so it's worth it.

Sigh, I guess am an ammoholic, but not for much longer. Come January 1, 2017 no more mail order ammo here. That is why I have to stack it deep. Yeah, that is my excuse and I am sticking with it. Smile

Hmmm, we are ammoholics after all, so I was fondling some ammunition this afternoon and came across several hundreds of these.
I will never shoot them because they start fires, and I don't even know if these will go bang.
But who cares, they are just for looking at I suppose.
The headstamps read WCC 8 9.

Hell you got to get one of these.

Nice and I like it, but you do have to have them on stripper clips.

I had them load my 9mm mags for me at the range.
Nobody thinks I'm going to do it when I have help, right?
After about 300rds or so, youngest daughter says "Pops, my fingers hurt."
So I ask her if she wants to stop shooting.
"Nope" she says.

We've been using the 5.56 loose round personal loader from the Beta Company. It's 5 rounds at a time.

The Maglula one you mean?

While I have lots of 30rd mags, I really only use the USGI 20s. They just seem to make my AR15 carbine handier and more well balanced than the 30s.

Yes, the Maglula StripLuLa. Made for stripper clips and loose rounds.

Edit to add: actually demonstrates in the video above.

I only watched the first part, guess I should have watched the whole thing.

Hmmm, might have look into one.
But it's our little secret, the kids don't need to know about this.

I have been spending a lot of time cataloguing my ammunition this afternoon. I have been using painters tape and writing what the contents of what is in each can.
I don't think I will finish today.

I have been finding some weird stuff like original 1st year Winchester Black Talons and things.

I even found a 50cal ammo can with nothing but primers in it. There must be thousands of them... small pistol, large pistol, rifle ones.
I took care not to drop the can BTW.

Almost all of what I have is from the 1990s. It was a busy decade.

I have the storage correct, no one could get hurt by anything in a fire.
I have seen loose rounds go off through heat and the tips pop off and skitter around a little. There is not a lot of velocity to them. I still would not want to be hit by them, so I have everything contained.

That's been my plan for the last couple of weekends. Need to get it done so I know what I have exactly. Keep a running total in my head, so pretty sure I have it real close, but need to get it organized.

I keep everything in original cases, but need to pick up some 50 cal cans. Have some 30's I use for some 22 and misc boxes of ammo, and cleaning supplies.

I mostly know what I have and where everything is from memory.
But there have been a few surprises.

I figure if and when I kick the bucket, family members will be able to know exactly what is what rather than them have to open each and every one.
It will make their range time more enjoyable, just read, grab and go.

But what was I thinking when I bought a thousand rounds of linked 5.56 with orange tracers intact. It's Lake City and the can says UAE on it.
Delinking is such a problem child.
The next generation can delink it, I'm not touching it.

Between painters tape and ammo can magnets I've got all of mine identified (though I need more magnets, my stash has grown significantly since this picture). I also keep an up-to-date Excel sheet to track my current quantities. It helps to curb my OCD tendencies and gives me a warm fuzzy every time I open it.

Mine are not out in the open like that, but they are getting labeled ie Sharpie ink on blue painters tape.

Are the buckets in your photo full of loose rounds?

Yeah, I know what you mean.
Stay out of Mason's rifle room, you'll save a ton of money.

I once spent an entire day delinking a couple of thousand surplus Malaysian 7.62X51 back in the late nineties. My fingers were raw.
Then I shot some it that afternoon and that ammunition was loaded on the hot side. I ended up with a sore shoulder and raw fingers.

If memory serves, it cost me $99 per thousand rounds.
That's like 10 cents a round.

Course it gave me arthritis, but still.

Darn.

When did Prvi Partizan become a big player?
It seems their ammo is for sale everywhere.
