Bass Ale

I haven't consumed a sweetened "soft drink" since the early 70's. I will, however, drink a mineral water (Perrier, San Pellegrino, etc.) if the thread title is limited to effervescent non-alcoholic beverages.

Nothing beats an ice cold root beer IMO. A&W is my go-to but the best I ever had was a brand I used to get when I lived in N.C. I can’t recall the name though.

Don't really drink them anymore but as a kid we had an A&W drive in that served root beer on tap that was amazing.

Since Coke announced awhile back, that as a white person I should apologies for being white, I won't touch a Coke product ever again.
I drink Pepsi products or I use my Soda Stream machine and make what ever I want.
Its nice to be able to quickly make a bottle of soda or a drink mixer like Tonic water or carbonated fruit juice.

Can't believe I'm the first vote for Mountain Dew. I drank that stuff like water for most of my life, much to my own detriment. Cut it back to 1 a day, except maybe if I'm eating in a restaurant.
Barq's rootbeer is a close second, followed by A&W cream soda.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

Diet cola or 7-Up. I also drink a bit of San Pellegrino or other such sparking waters, sometimes with some lemon squeezed in.

On tap? (If it' still available anywhere)...A&W rootbeer. Otherwise, Dr. Pepper.

Diet Coke is my basic drink (3-4 a day), but I also like Vernors Ginger Ale (just don't get it very often). I also drink a lot of Simply Lemonade and Peach Tea from Wyler's powder.

Most of the Zero sweetened soft drinks are pretty good IMO. I really like the cherry DP and ginger ale.

Typically sparkling mineral water. Sometimes with a squirt of lime juice. My favorite of the readily-available brands is San Pellegrino, as the carbonation level is just right, not too weak and not too aggressive.

I gave up actual pop/coke/soda over a decade ago, other than very occasionally drinking one every few years. Every once in a blue moon a cold sugary drink sounds good, like in the middle of a long road trip. Then I might grab a Mountain Dew or Cherry Coke.
