I'd hesitate to call Social Security and Medicare entitlement programs. We pay for that shit. Fraud within those programs would be troublesome and needs stopped.

I have a tendency to agree. SS and Medicare do become entitlements the minute you start taking more money out than you did contributed plus a reasonable return. I won't hit that in my lifetime (Medicare maybe). SS disability can be an entitlement depending on amount contributed. Fraud within SS and Medicare appears to be a big problem. I can hardly wait for DOGE to dig into SS and especially Medicare.

I assume Big Swede meant to separate "entitlement programs" from the other programs mentioned. I hope so anyway.

These are all listed as entitlement programs but yes, I agree with you, SS and Medicare are not entitlements. I'm talking about the leach class that is defrauding these programs. I have thought for years that these programs will not be there when it's time for me to use what I paid in to. Maybe there is hope now

It's almost like Trump is playing 5d chess and everyone else is playing checkers. Egypt and Saudi Arabia will, albeit reluctantly, gladly throw money at rebuilding Gaza instead of taking in those people.

Could it possibly be that PDJT proposed the USA take over Gaza full well knowing that would goad the other Arab states into footing the bill versus having a foreign country in control? Brilliant! The only flaw I can imagine is Hamas continuing to reside there and build more tunnels for future operations. That would be a tragedy. Ultimately the area needs to be under Israeli control and Hamas needs to be a thing of the past or this will never end.

I guess it depends on what one thinks entitlements means. It seems to me that if one pays into social security at whatever level for however many quarters are required, then one is entitled to receive social security benefits. Personally, I would call that an entitlement. An earned entitlement, but an entitlement. I would think Medicare is the same.

Welfare, on the other hand seems entirely different to me. Maybe that’s an entitlement program too, but I don’t know what anyone has done to be entitled to it.

President Donald Trump on Thursday rolled out his plan to increase U.S. tariffs to match the tax rates that other countries charge on imports, possibly triggering a broader economic confrontation with allies and rivals alike as he hopes to eliminate any trade imbalances.

“I’ve decided for purposes of fairness that I will charge a reciprocal tariff,” Trump said in the Oval Office at the proclamation signing. “It’s fair to all. No other country can complain.”

As a person who does fed.gov contracting, let me explain at least part of why this is a fucking criminal conspiracy.

1. Someone wrote, and someone else approved, a statement of work (SOW) for the bank and the NGOs.

2. A Contracting Officer (CO), who hold a literal warrant from the government to perform their job, approved the SOW and the rest of the contract terms. This would include disbursing the funds to a bank as an intermediate. Such a disbursement would prevent any fed.gov personnel from reviewing and approving the invoices for work performed.

3. I can tell you that every fed.gov contract has what are known as "representations and certifications" in which the contractor states they have complied with hundreds of provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). I did a contract once where I downloaded all the reps and certs. It came to 200 pages, at Arial 10 pt. I want to see evidence the bank and the NGOs are compliant with them, especially the provisions addressing money laundering.

4. Someone authorized the obligation and disbursement of the funds to the bank. That was illegal, absent invoices for work performed.

Everyone involved must be investigated and criminally charged, from the EPA Administrator to every individual involved.

Listen to more details from Lee Zeldin.

100% a criminal conspiracy.

Kurt Schlichter: We Are Totally Going to Crush the Democrats' Puny Lawfare Offensive

quote:
Everybody needs to calm down and take a deep breath – the DOGE revolution is not in danger because a bunch of obscure district court judges in blue jurisdictions have signed ridiculous temporary orders purporting to limit President Donald Trump’s ability to actually be president. Don’t listen to the black pill battalion. We’re not losing this fight. We’re going to win it. Listen to the vice president – JD Vance has gotten a lot of heat because he pointed out that this is a legal farce. As usual, he’s right. And, to the extent there is a constitutional crisis – which there isn’t – it was brought on by uppity jurists hoping to distract the administration from its mission by embroiling it in a separation of powers fight. Except that’s not going to happen. The President and JD Vance are not going to fall for it. What they will do is use the judiciary to police its own misbehaving members, and when it’s all done, these legal fights will solidify the administration’s ability to act decisively in the future.

Tarriffs leveling the playing field:
World Bank data from 2022 indicate, for example, that India’s weighted average effective tariff rate on the United States was about 9.5 percent. The average U.S. tariff rate on India’s products entering the country is about 3 percent.
“Traditionally, India is right at the top of the pack,” Trump told reporters, noting that the United States cannot sell Harley-Davidson products in India because tariffs are too high.
He made the comments before his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Oval Office on Feb. 13.
“They charge more tariffs than any other country,“ Trump said. ”We'll be talking about that.”
The president also singled out Taiwan, saying all chip production had moved to Taiwan from the United States and that he wanted to bring manufacturing back to the country.
In 2023, Taiwan’s overall average nominal tariff rate for imported goods was 6.34 percent, ranging between 4.13 percent for industrial products and 15.06 percent for agricultural products.
“U.S. industry continues to request that Taiwan lower tariffs on imports of many products,” the International Trade Administration stated in a January 2024 report.

Heard that Trump called the Egyptian President and told him that if the Arab countries couldn't get together on rebuilding Gaza he was going to do it, and said "We're building a Pyramid, it's going to be a beautiful Pyramid, and it will be bigger than any Pyramid in Egypt, it will be so beautiful and big that everyone will want to see our Pyramid, and we'll build fantastic hotels, restaurants, a great waterfront on the Med and it will be the best Pyramid place to visit...."
