In Montana, they pull a certain number from the registered voter pool each year. During that year, you are subject to being called for service. I have been called 3 times and served on 2 juries. After age 65 I believe you are exempt.

I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown

At the age of 38, almost 39, I think I’ve been summoned 3 or 4 times.

Once one early spring when I was 19. I was in college and requested a slight delay until the end of the semester. It was granted and I ended up serving on a jury during the summer. It was a civil case where a cable guy entered the wrong yard (read: the yard he wasn’t supposed to be in doing work) and was scared by a dog. He hopped a fence and claimed injury when he fell from the top of the fence.

He sued the property owner (not even the resident or owner of said “attacking dog”) and we ended up awarding him $250k.

I was one of 3 who voted against that verdict but it didn’t matter.

The rest of my summons have happened while I’ve been an employeed as a Deputy Sheriff or Sergeant and have been dismissed upon returning the paperwork.

I have one now. It is only the 2nd one I have ever received. I am going to ask for an exemption due to my age, my wife's health and covid.

I was called a total on ONCE....back in the early 2000 timeframe when I was still in LE.

Arrived at the check-in with a large coffee and talk to the govt worker who was responsible for checking in the new arrivals.

Give her my info and with a pissed off look she tells me I'm not needed and to go home. She comments that "I should have checked the phone checkin system before I came in". I told I that I did but it's malfunctioning. Then she says, "I know"???????

Guess I shouldn't have expected much more at a court system in that area.

Never heard from them and when I moved NH never sent me anything. Last two years in person court has been unheard of.

I've lived in five states as an adult. I served on a jury for a murder trial in Lucas County Ohio in 1979. It was an experience- two inner city "youths" had robbed and raped women aged 72, 84, and 91, as well as killing the 84 year old by smashing her skull several times with a piece of cinder block. I was glad to have been part of the jury that convicted one those creatures.

The only other time was about 30 years ago when I was excused due to college obligations.

I have been in the jury pool twice. One of the questions is if you are related or friends with any in law enforcement. I retired with 39.5 years in L/E.
I have to add an extra sheet just for that question. I have never been called and would love to serve.

My son is a police detective. He received a subpoena for jury duty and went for the pool.
The judge asked if any body had any reason that they could not serve. He raised his hand and was summoned before the judge and quietly asked why.
He told the judge that he was a witness for the prosecution in this case and had previously arrested the defendant.
Needless to say he was excused.

Since I've been living in this county, more than 18 years now, they've called me once. I think it was maybe 2005. I checked in, sat in a big room all day, and that was it. They didn't call me and I haven't heard from them since.

Called twice for county. Got out of one because my premature son was still in the NICU. The other one was settled out of court while we were waiting for jury selection. I'm supposed to report for federal jury duty in two weeks. We'll see how that goes.

My mom got out of it one time because she told them I was a state correctional officer. My dad served on a murder case not long after.

I've been summoned 4 times in 25 years in county court. Coincidentally that includes the summons I got last week. I was on one jury. It was a evading arrest/failure to appear and pretty much a slam dunk prosecution. The car chase was on dash cam and there is not much defense for missing a court date. The defense attorney strung this out for a week. The judge apologized to us for taking up so much of our time.

I posted back on page one that my wife's been called three times in the last twenty or so years.

She just got called again this month, but the trial got cancelled because one of the defendant's lawyers came down with Covid at the last minute.

I got my first ever notice that I was in the pool a couple of months ago. Haven't been called up yet.

It seems sort of random. I got one a year from the district courts a couple of years ago and previous, and one from a justice court in that same period. Now, I haven't had one for the last two years. However, there haven't been many jury trials under the Covid rules.

You can always tell them that you believe that if the police had enough probable cause to arrest the person then he must be guilty. They will excuse you every time

I got summoned twice while I was away in college from my home county - Mid 90s. Each time I was dismissed over the phone since I was 2 hours away.

Got summoned in 2012 (different county) and sat for a murder trial.
Nothing since.

Called to serve once for a local civilian murder trial while on active military duty many years ago while stationed at Ft.Greely, Alaska. But due to work commitments had my unit commander contact the court system which excused my presence. Later found out that the prosecution wanted my service but the defense did not want my service. ....................................... drill sgt.
