A friend loaned me some polywatch polish to cleanup the hexalite crystal. 4 super small dots of the polish, hand rubbing with a microfiber cloth, and the results are amazing.

So glad my speedy is back home!

Anyone have any experience with a Baltic?

Saw these and liked the look, but had no idea about them in general. Time for the apple watch to go, and I think I may switch to this. Just need a little input.

Thanks for the info

From the Baltic home page:

We want to be transparent about our production, and avoid contributing to the ambiguity that has been the bane of the horology industry for over 20 years. We manufacture and assemble in three different regions:

In Hong Kong for the production of the majority of our components
In France for the assembly and adjustment of our watches and the production of straps
In Italy for our accessories line

https://baltic-watches.com/en/about-us

I own dive watches with Japanese movements and the watches were made and assembled in China. No big deal. I knew that going in.

h2oys, that Speedmaster looks awesome. The polish sure makes that crystal shine. The domed crystal is really fantastic. I have had my eye on one of a few domed crystal watches… probably be a while before I get anything new though.

I have heard of Baltic. To my happy surprise, there are a couple guys that come in to Planet Fitness that are hardcore watch guys. One of the guys, Mike, has a Baltic. He also has a pretty awesome collection of Christopher Ward and Doxa.

Ordered the Baltic. It should be here by the end of the week. I'll wear it for a week or two then post my thoughts and some pictures.

Did you order it with the strap or bracelet?

It's a very nice looking watch.

One of my first Christopher Ward watches is on my wrist today. This is one of my favorites and has been in heavy rotation for 3 years now. Still looking sharp!

A new watch joined the herd a few days ago. I like hunting and this new Sinn Model 3006 (not a coincidental designation I'm sure) is going along with me when I'm going for moose in Canada later this year.

The bad thing about the hexilite crystal: The scratch easily.

The good things about the hexilite crystal: It's what the original Speedy Pros were made with and they are extremely easy to polish! Yours looks as good as new!!! What a legacy piece!

Yesterday my wife and I went to Phoenix to meet a friend for lunch. After a great lunch, we stopped at the Korean Market, went to Costco, then stopped by Fashion Square mall. We looked at clothes and perfume for her, and walked past the Rolex AD. I stopped by the jewelry store next to Rolex and looked at some of the watches they had on display.
I tried on a really nice Rolex Day Date in Platinum. Awesome watch and it weighed far more than I had expected. It also cost a small fortune and was far more than I would spend on a watch.
One of the Sales Advisors from Rolex was helping a guy with the pre-owned inventory. When he had finished, I asked him for a minute of his time. He asked what was up and I told him that I have been wanting to purchase a Submariner Date for quite some time. I said that I understand that the wait list doesn’t really exist, and asked if he could just be straight with me and tell me what I need to purchase; how much do I need to spend [at Hyde Park/1916 Co.] in order for you to sell me a watch?
He asked my name and phone number, and said to give him a few minutes.
Around five minutes later he came out and asked us to follow him to the small private room toward the back of the Rolex boutique. He asked us to take a seat, offered us waters, and said that it was my lucky day and he has a Submariner Date that he can sell me. He asked if we would like to see it, and came back a few minutes later with a brand new Submariner Date.
I honestly hadn’t planned on purchasing a Rolex yesterday, but my wife and I agreed that’s it’s also pretty rare that you get the opportunity to purchase a new Rolex at retail price. It’s the only time I have ever bought a watch that appreciated when I walked out the door with it.
So this came home with me yesterday.
I’m pretty happy with this as I have always wanted a Submariner.

Beancooker: Congrats on scoring your new Sub at an AD and at RRP!!! I've had the "Rolex New Owner" treatment (like you they took me in the backroom, treated me to some water, followed by a glass of Prosecco), and of course they sized the watch appropriately!

While I don't totally buy or reject the "list" info, I do believe they're as selective as possible about selling new watches, so as attempt to do something towards culling the "flippers."

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but all Rolex authorized dealers ("ADs") must sell their new stock at the Regular Retail Price (RRP), because the company is family owned and a "non-profit" corporation. If a dealer is found to be selling a new Rolex above list, in all probability they will soon become an "ex-dealer." Wink

That said, the pleasure of scoring that new Rolex certainly overrides the disappointment of going from AD to AD, only to be told they haven't any model(s) you're looking for in stock. You were probably walking on air (and a bit paranoid) out to your car!!! Just treasure the memory as much as you'll treasure the Sub for years!!!
