Oh, I'm with you! Don't get me wrong, they're probably a hoot to shoot with and grab dinner / a few beers... but after that, you KNOW it's gonna be expensive. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Little bit different style but same movement. I bought mine in 1995, have it in a footlocker somewhere.

Have you seen the limited edition "ProPilot Coulson Aviation Limited Edition Carbon"? IMHO it's absolutely stunning! "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

It was my pleasure. That's such a nice watch, and I'm glad you're able to wear it again.
It arrived yesterday. It's going to be a challenge, but it'll be a few weeks before I can try to work on it. I'm off on a road trip to Yellowstone and back for a couple of weeks.

WHOA!!! I was unaware of this beauty. I LOVE IT!!! I almost bought an Oris Kermit while on vacation at an island that isn’t too popular here and for good reason. Sadly that watch was damaged by some previous person who adjusted the date in the danger zone damaging the quick set on the movement. I have amassed quite the collection of blacked out/stealthy watches but have nothing even remotely similar to that carbon Oris. I don’t own a carbon case watch yet. Came VERY close to purchasing a Tissot Sideral vintage reinterpretation but other watches at the boutique caught my fancy. (Baby Marine Master ice diver) Doxa makes a limited run carbon cased aqualung Sub 300 that has been tempting me badly. I think if/when I get a carbon cased watch it will likely be a Doxa, Oris or maybe Tudor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

The day after I saw it, it had been sold and I still regret my inaction. "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

That Oris is fantastic. Red wouldn't be my first choice, but that does look quite nice. Wonder if they make it in orange. The Enemy's gate is down.

Nice Oris! Im leery about carbon fiber watches. Especially dive / tool watches. Tudor has a Chrono Diver with a carbon fiber case, nice looking watch. Carbon fiber degrades with exposure to sunlight and pressure after time. I actually use my dive watches for diving. Yeah, I should probably just use one as a strictly dress watch, but I’m not that smart. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Can't deny!
Dang! Up until about two minutes ago, I was in the mind of, "Yeah, I'll go look at the Oris stuff, but nothing of theirs has really caught my eye." Until now!! That ProPilot is really sharp! I hope there's one at the event next week. Ordinarily, I'm not bold enough to wear a red watch. (Or so I thought, until Stickman lent me his orange Samurai... which is now mine.) But the maroon-faced Seiko I saw recently (SRPL11) has caught my eye, and now this Oris. I'm going to have to make a solid attempt at bailing out of work early next Friday so I can get over to The Enabler's shop. - - - - - ETA: Eek!! That Oris is about ten-plus times as expensive as the Seiko. (Doesn't stop me from wanting to look at one, though.)This message has been edited. That Oris is purty. But not 5 large pretty. Imma keep saving for a Big Pilot. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

I love the offerings from IWC, but the 46mm Big Pilot is even too large for my (nearly 8") wrist. Besides that, I've found that Laco has some very nice 43mm pilot chronographs at just about half the price. After watching the Irish Open yesterday I realized I had made a big mistake in what career path I picked. I should have taken up golf! Just moments after winning the match Rory McIlroy pulls out of his golf bag a watch and straps it on his wrist. A bit later he is giving an interview and I get a closeup view of his watch. Research follows... It's an 18K gold Omega DeVille Tourbillon CO-AXIAL Chronometer. Price: $137,000.00 - just a mere $134,058.00 more than I paid for my 300M! ________________________________________________________ The trouble with trouble is; it always starts out as fun.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Rory didn’t pay full price for the watch. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. That's a pretty penny, but seems 'cheap' for a Tourbillon. The Enemy's gate is down.

Well, fellow enthusiasts,I got to see the Seiko SRPL11 last Friday. Honestly, I was pretty excited to go have a look. I [accidentally/unconsciously] left my credit card at home, and I drove over there thinking repeatedly, “I’m not buying another watch today." Maybe I was trying to convince myself. As soon as I got through the door our “enabler,” Ms. H, pointed to a corner of the display case. There it was! She retrieved it from the case and handed it over. I was… um… well… disappointed. It wasn’t really as maroon as the images I had seen. It was a little pinkish, I thought. Ms. H even suggested it was “a little mauve-ish.” Acknowledging that “guys only see about a dozen colors,” I agreed. It just wasn’t right. So. There it is! “I’m not buying another watch today.” And then she pulled out SRPL51 — the same watch but with a blue face. Far better! It’s not as gorgeous as that blue-faced Hamilton I mentioned a few pages back, but it certainly was nice. And to beat that, Ms. H pulled out an SRPL83. This one is part of the Seiko 5 series, rather than the Prospex group, but its blue face was absolutely stunning! And its price was about $150 less than the SRPL models I had looked at. Like the SRPL11, the face is much darker in the advertisements than it is in person. Then we looked at a couple of Hamiltons. The Murph is gorgeous, and has a relatively fierce price tag to go along with it. I had to pass. Then we walked over to the Tissot case. I’ve seen a few, but never worn one. I know a few people who have had Tissot, and all have liked them. I then had to modify the statement I had made over and over on the drive. “I’m not buying myself another watch today.” "What the heck, vthoky?” you may ask… Yep. I bought a Tissot… but not for myself. Don’t tell The Lovely Girlfriend, but she’s getting a new watch shortly. Love the blue hands on that Tissot. Nice contrast. The Enemy's gate is down.

Yessir, the blue hands are really pretty. - - - - - Ooh! Ooh! I almost forgot! (Well, actually I did, I suppose.) I also got a look at SJE075, a member of the Presage series. It got the porcelain face and the blued hands. Absolutely stinking gorgeous! (And it wears a $3300 list price.) Also very nice, apart from the pricetag. Powerball eluded me this time, I'd need a room for all the toys. Watches, new guns, etc. The Enemy's gate is down.
