Again, glad to hear you're doing well! Yeah, a regular Sub is +/- $10K used. The Reds? Twice that!!! If I pick one up, it's after my rug-rats get out of college. I'm dropping my oldest off next weekend. 17 years?!?! GOOD! Keep beating the hell out of the pension fund! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. If you haven't done it yet, check out Chrono24 for good deals on Submariners (including "Red Line" versions)! Obviously, "Buyer Beware", but I found some very good deals there and have a very high opinion of using the site either for searching or researching make/model/pricing. https://www.chrono24.com/searc...rder=1&dosearch=true "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

Absolutely fantastic timepiece. The most complicated one that Rolex makes. It was the next to be bought and shortly after I bought the Submariner, it came up for sale at the AD. I tried it on and it’s just too big for me. I know it’s only a 42mm, but it wears much larger. It looks fantastic on you, and I’m super envious that it fits you so well. I can’t wait to see it back on its bracelet. Congratulations on a beautiful watch and overcoming your health issues!

That sounded very cool so I went there to look up my very first "good watch" I bought back in 1969. That year my maternal grandmother passed away and left me $300 in her will. I was in college in Los Angeles so I went to a very nice jewelry store in the Miracle Mile of Wilshire Blvd to buy a timepiece. I asked the owner what he would buy and he brought out a Sea Dweller. I bought it on the spot for $348.60. I rarely took it off for 16 years. I then lusted after a GMT so I sold the Sea dweller for DOUBLE what I paid for it! I thought I won the lottery. Well 4 more Rolex sport watches later I got into Breitlings (4) until I went Omega Seamaster 300M 10 years ago. Well this is what I found on Pulicords reccomended site: !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...and here I thought machineguns were a great investment! I dropped in at my local jeweler yesterday to get a battery put into my old Seiko chrono. While I was there, I got a look at a Bulova 96A259 “Hack Watch.” It’s a simple design, much like my Seiko SNZG15, and I was way tempted to pick it up. I’ve gotten used to [relatively] large and heavy watches like the Seiko “Samurai” models. This one was a big departure from that, at just 38mm across. (link) From Bulova’s site: “Celebrating Bulova’s military heritage and the Veteran’s Watchmaker Initiative, a nonprofit organization whose focus is to teach war veterans, especially disabled veterans, the highly skilled art of watchmaking. The updated HACK watch features a Miyota 8S20-43A three-hand 21-jewel automatic movement with a 42 hour power reserve. The stainless steel case with a black dial and luminescent hands and markers also features a center track on the dial displaying 24H time. The screw-back case features a glass insert with the VWI printed logo. Watch features a domed mineral crystal, a green nylon strap and water resistance to 30 meters. By purchasing this watch, 10% of the proceeds will go to helping to support the Veteran’s Watchmaker Initiative.” As I’ve mentioned to stickman and our “enabler” over in Winston, I need to stop buying watches and resume saving for my eventual Grand Seiko, or something really sparkly for The Lovely Girlfriend. Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. — — — — — — — — — — — — God bless America.

Very Seiko 5/Khaki feel to it. I do like the simplicity of it. The Enemy's gate is down.

WOW! 55 years and that’s the ROI? (If you’re looking at watches as an investment)?!?! IIRC, Rolex didn’t get really popular until early-mid 70’s. Here you are, 16 years later thinking you got a pretty good deal! When I was a (smartass) kid, and my parents would ask what I wanted for Christmas, one of the things I would say was “Rolex Submariner, with the cyclops, all stainless steel, black face.” And they would just roll their eyes. Closest I got was a Timex with a small piece of paper taped to the crystal with “Rolex” written on it. My mother was looking over my shoulder while I was on Chrono24 / GetBezel or whatever… and my mom is looking at the prices. I showed her the “pre-owned” Rolex’s and the original prices. Interesting market! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Well CPD SIG the only thing I'm working on now is that getting that #@&%?@ time machine finished in the garage so I can go back and buy twenty more! ...oh, and "unsell" my first Rolex! ________________________________________________________ The trouble with trouble is; it always starts out as fun.

Let me know! I'll toss you a few $ for about a dozen Red Submariners / Sea Dwellers. While you're there, grab a dozen or so H&K P-7's ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Z06: Those older Sea Dwellers and Submariners sure bring a premium today, but I advise anyone looking to buy a Rolex to buy it because they love to wear it as ANY piece of jewelry (even Rolex watches) isn't a good/safe investment. My Sky Dweller can be sold for what I paid for it last week today, but tomorrow? Next month/year? Who knows. I just bought it because I love the aesthetics and the complications. Those Breitling and Omega watches have some great offerings! I was very tempted to get an Omega Speedmaster Professional in gold with the green dial before I jumped at the Sky Dweller. Earlier this year, I bought the "Speedy" with the white dial and am very pleased with it. I bought my first Rolex (an eight year old Submariner that had just returned from service) at an AD in Kaanapali (Maui) about 12 years ago for $5,200.00 and knew I'd gotten a good deal. This was shortly before the Rolex brand went nuts due to the cache and people that didn't want to wait for a new one (from an AD) were offering $$$$$ beyond the RRP on the gray market. Not a week after I got home from my vacation, a guy in Los Angeles that saw me wearing the watch offered me $1,000.00 more than I'd paid for it. I passed on the offer, but a few years later traded the Sub in on a new (AD's) James Cameron Deepsea Sea Dweller because I loved the "descending blue" dial. It's a big boy at 44mm, but I still have it and love it. The Sky Dweller and JC DSSD are two of the three Rolex watches that I own, and (obviously) I've got pretty big wrists to handle their presence. My third Rolex and probably my most worn/favorite watch of all is a Explorer II with the white ("Polar") dial, that I scored from an AD on Aruba a few years ago. At 42mm it's pretty big too, but fits me perfectly and it's my "GADA" choice, especially with one of the many straps I substitute for the OEM Oyster bracelet. Remember when Cabelas offered "A" grade H&K P7s for $500.00? Well, I bought FOUR of them within a couple of months because I knew they wouldn't be built again. I sold one to a friend and still have three (one that I had refinished by NP3), but I'm not in any hurry to sell them. GREAT pistols!!! I always said "one of these days" when it came to the H&K P-7's. I knew it was towards the end of the imports, I had the cash and then some for a few of them. But I was looking at my pregnant wife with our 1st kid. I think that cash I had earmarked for the guns went to a crib. I'm almost positive that the $ I had set off to the side for the Harley repairs went to a dresser... No one sat me down ad told me just how expensive Children are... ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Swatch refunded the wife's money and told her to keep the watch. Anyone want it to fix and keep? Only stipulation is to post a pic of fixed watch. If it can be fixed that is

Find a decent Jeweler (Dave at Mimi’s comes to mind), it’s not a hard fix, take the back off, pop out the movement, and re-press the second hand on, then put it back together. It happened to one of my beater watches, my only problem was the second hand got stuck between the minute and hour hand, and messed things up. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. With all the H&K P7 requests I remembered that the guy I sold my GMT to also bought my P7 M8... so as soon as Amazon delivers this new one: I'll get going and pick up lots of the good stuff! ________________________________________________________ The trouble with trouble is; it always starts out as fun.

I'll take you up on that offer. My watchmaking tools are packed away, but I can dust them off and put them to work.
