There have been some recent threads discussing the wisdom of saving factory gun boxes. I have also seen threads where a member asked what box was correct for a particular SIG that he just bought. Doing a quick search, I even found a thread that discussed the various SIG boxes, but without any photos.

So I thought, we have many gun porn threads, why not a factory box thread? If done right, it could be a useful resource, and perhaps the owners/administrators will make it a “sticky”. So please post photos of your SIG boxes, along with any information you have on when the box was used and for what gun(s).

My collection isn’t very extensive, or unusual, but I’ll start with what I have:

The generic and ubiquitous blue box, with both SIGARMS and SIG SAUER markings, used for almost every pistol coming out of Exeter, NH in the 21st century:

The generic and ubiquitous red box, with both SIGARMS and SIG SAUER markings, used for almost every Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) pistol coming out of Exeter, NH in the 21st century:

The black box used for the SIGPro SP2022, circa 2008:

The dark gray box used in the mid-1990s for German-made pistols such as the P220, P225, P226, P228, P230, and P232. Member Modern Day Savage reports an early P229 delivered in this case, as well.

Here are a few more. Can't recall all the time frames and such but maybe other members can help there.

There were Law enforcement version of the regular cases too:

A couple of the SIGs I bought in Europe came in these types of cases in the 2000's

Most of the ones I got in Europe still came in the gray cardboard box though.

Then there was the old school color coded cardboard boxes. Different models had different colors.

Here is a real old P210 box.

and the first plastic boxes I think were like this. Mainly the German P6 pistols came in these, but my P220 fit it as well.

The early plastic cases in the US were gray plastic with formed interiors. Back in the 90's

Then they went to a darker Gray with partial foam interiors. Theses were my favorite except for the weak latches.

You should think about publishing a coffee table book on this topic/images (thinking of the "Seinfeld" episode where Kramer did a coffee table book about coffee tables Wink) .

I thought I'd seen most of the various SIG cases, obviously I had not...

If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

I have a couple of these blue boxes which look like were filled with spur hammer guns. These are availale on GunBroker as well as the red boxes for a smaller Sig...232? I bought these to show my Browning BDA's.

The yellow box was for the P226 I believe when each model had its own color.

I agree. Interesting to note that a CPO I picked up from TGS ~ a year ago still came in a "Sig Sauer" marked red box, not the newer SIGARMS designation. Or did they switch back? I can't keep track... Roll Eyes

Thanks. What came in the black box, what time frame? Similarly, what date for the P225 box? At first I thought that was just another blue box, but I see it does not have the molded-in lettering like mine. What was that used for and when?

The P225 is from 1982 (JC) when Sig was distributed by Interarms.

The black case is from a 2001 P229.

The small blue box is from a P238 in 2009.
