Falling in Reverse took Papa Roach’s Last Resort in a completely different direction and nailed it in my opinion.
What are your favorites that have been covered very differently?

Hang on St. Christopher by the Bullet Boys is a better version that Tom Waits's version, IMHO.

“I used to be totally into Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and other shredders, and I tried to emulate what they did and really grow as a guitarist,” Mr. Hanneman said in “Louder Than Hell.” “Then I said, ‘I don’t think I’m that talented, but more important, I don’t care.’ ”

Hendrick's cover of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower. He utterly transformed the song and completely owned it. Another favorite of mine is Dwight Yoakum's cover of Prince's Purple Rain. A bluegrass version, no less and it's awesome.

My first choice, to me, a great cover is one that totally re-thinks, re-invents the original. Anybody can do a an approximate karaoke version, that doesn't impress me. But Devo completely changed Satisfaction, made it their own, even Jagger loved it.

Sid Vicious My Way. Even writer Paul Anka liked it.

Yes reinventing the Simon and Garfunkel version.

Mad World by Gary Jules was also better than Tears for Fears because they just suck.

In college, I was fascinated with The Residents. Still have several of their albums. Here are their Elvis covers.

Way better! Trent thinks so and honestly, to listen to Johnny's version, you'd think Trent wrote it for him to play. It's his story!

And I would mention HIM's Wicked Game, but I don't think it different enough to make the cut.

Being that Nine Inch Nails is terrible it’s not really saying much.
Just like Breaking Bad I am the minority (I know) but can’t stand Nine Inch Nails. The only other band I refuse to listen to or change faster than Nine Inch Nails is Weezer.

Weezer did a whole album of covers. None of them are different or better than the originals though.
