I didn't take it to be anti-religion. Perhaps a little anti-dumbassery in the name of religion though. No one can deny that most religions have had their share of things that are gratefully in the past. Well, not all in the past (allahu-snackbar anyone). I think the show was insinuating that as a people, we can get more shit done when were not burning people at the stake for saying the earth revolves around the sun.

Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle |
I was not able see all of season one. The DVR didnt record them or often recorded something being run in its place. I am hoping to get caught up on them and we are looking forward to season 2. "They have confused public opinion for knowledge " What a great episode. This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. -Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Joshua Painter Played by Senator Fred Thompson

Ignored facts still exist |
Just learned about this show from another thread. Looks like it's worthwhile. And on Hulu, which I have, at least for a while. .

I've chosen not to resurrect this thread but here we are. This season has been a trainwreck but the last two-parter built around Isaac and his planet kind of got the show's feet near to back on the ground. Otherwise it's been creepy and really stupid, I've deleted DVR'd episodes a few minutes in. The show has squandered so much good will with me, I pretty much don't care where it goes from here. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.

I will say that the latest double episode was very good, very enjoyable and gives this series a way forward. It was an interesting blend of TNG & DS9 in tone and thread. It's been uneven, cringe worthy and awkwardly anachronistic in references at times, but overall I've grown to have a generally positive view of this show. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Enjoying S2. Good. Different. Identity p1 and p2 make up some ground. Here in Oz, we are two episodes behind US screening. Despite the 'hot from the US' banter. Looking forward to 'Blood of the Patriots' and 'Lasting Impressions'. May Avis guide us. We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid." ~ Benjamin Franklin. Im actually really enjoying this season as well as last. I dont take it as arguing as much as conversation starting which I think Sci fi can really do well. Perhaps I'm in the minority but I think this is one of the best shows on television.

I swear I had something for this |
I've loved The Orville this year. I like the more away from less comedy and I've really liked the character episodes this year. From what I've read, the 2nd episode this year was suppose to be the first episode but was deemed by Fox to be too serious to follow the NFL. I think Bortus's yearly piss would have worked better after the porn addiction episode (which was tastefully done from the folks that also write Family Guy). It hasn't been perfect, although Identity I and II were almost there, but it's still great and is far more Star Trek than that abortion called STD.

First episode was a snooze fest. Spoiler ahead****** A robot committing suicide? Then an entire episode about mental health? How long are they going to pretend that the Dr is in love with the Roomba? For fucks sake, he’s a robot without an emotion chip. Boring and shitty start.

Seems a little late to be upset about the Doctor being in love with a robot, since it’s been that way for a while. Why keep watching, if that’s a turn off? I think the chances of that story going away is about zero. Thought the episode was OK, but the quick turnaround of the new character was just a lazy story trope. I hate you because your people killed my friend (girlfriend?), but I change my mind in the end and save you because story reasons. Also, not sure if the new character is just a bad actress, or poorly directed. She seemed pretty unemotional when her friend got out and manually jettisoned the escape pod, sacrificing her life for the new character. Also not really digging then new mini-Orville shuttle design. At least there wasn’t any Bottas and husband drama. Hopefully there will be a lot less of that, as well as the painfully stupid jokes and pranks, this season.

Oh I thought it was dumb last season as well. Going out on a date in the Holosuite to see if he has any emotions seems reasonable. Falling in love with HAL 2000 even after you know he doesn’t have any becomes silly. She’s an annoying character as are her children. The love angle is just stupid piled on top. Weak opening act. Any actual comment regarding how stupid the idea is of centering the episode on mental health. Of a robot? Suicide? Oh fucking brother.
