This was pretty cool, and I’m happy for the Trek fans who got wanted they wanted here. I’ll always be bitter towards Disney for not offering Star Wars fans the same. All the actors were alive at the time, we had the opportunity to have Han, Leah, Luke, Chewie, R2 and CPO all together in the Millennium Falcon once last time. I recall reading where Mark Hamill even asked JJ Abrams (director) about it and got some flip response about “it’s not their movie”. F-you Disney.

Putting the pieces back together…

The actual scene…

Even with all the allowances that had to be made fitting into Kurtzman Trek, that season of Picard is still the best TNG movie we ever got. While it's a C+ or B- overall, it shines like an A+ after 2005 and was the first time in a long time that you got the feeling that the people making the show loved Star Trek.

And that fucking SCORE was perfection...

So much of the season was ridiculous, so I don't see how you'd consider it better than any of the TNG movies. It's hard to beat First Contact. I'd even consider Insurrection to be better, and even I know how crazy that sounds.

Every episode built onto one another and also held together. All of the Next Gen movies were wannabe action movies that had very little to do with TNG, and even when TNG did action stories they were better than the movies.

The other great thing about the season is it was a wrap up of the Berman Era of Star Trek with unresolved plot lines from TNG/DS9/VOY getting resolved.

Now I never want to see anyone from the TNG cast in Star Trek again. They finally got an ending that Nemesis failed to deliver.

dsiets,

Started over with the original series and am now in season 5 of TNG. Plan is to watch all the shows and movies hopefully in some chronological order.

A little nuts I'm sure but enjoying it.

Dan's reply to mine shows he's got a better perspective about the show and movies than I do. I used to be a real geek about TNG. I still have the Enterprise-D blueprints, the original Technical Manual, original Star Trek Encyclopedia, and a bunch of trivia books. But it's been a long, long time since I've cared that much about the show and have obviously mis-remembered things for nostalgia's sake.

I did really enjoy seeing the -D back on the screen with the original bridge crew at the helm, though.

Frakes and Spiner are cranking up their own podcast now.

It’s more industry focused than ST specifically, but the Fillion/Tudyk episode was pretty entertaining.

If you didn't follow the Dominion War through Deep Space Nine (mostly excellent) and Voyager's encounters with the Borg (mostly terrible) then a lot of things introduced in Picard Season 3 and why it would involve certain cast members and guest stars could look like it came out of left field.

I can remember one click bait site that tried to do a "Shame on you Star Trek" article when Vadic revealed that the Federation was experimenting on her and how Season 3 glossed over it and that REAL Star Trek would have dealt with that situation. Real Star Trek did deal with that about 30 years ago on a show called Deep Space Nine where an extremest wing of Starfleet developed a plague to kill all Changelings in the galaxy and used Odo to deliver it. While our heroes found the cure and used it to sign a peace treaty with the Dominion, I'm sure there's some changeling that are still pretty pissed off and would be more than willing to work with others that wanted to destroy Starflet.

If you’re replying to me, I’ve seen every episode through the finale of Enterprise. I haven’t seen much of any of the newer shows, save Picard.
