We plan to see it too, hope it stays in IMAX for a bit. Seen mixed reviews, as expected. However I think a serious fan dismissing this sort of movie for the somewhat inaccurate or unrealistic details of the cars/racing/etc. is like folks making the same criticism in any movie that includes a gun. Wife and I are going to see the F1 movie. We will have to fight the tourist crowd down in Destin to see it on the big screen. I don't think our local theater would do the film justice. None of them are owners in Liberty or the teams, so the overall sport revenue doesn't flow directly to them. Of course it does in side deals, salaries, etc. Just like the real world, the large to huge salaries probably get easily consumed living. Some exceptions of course, for the Maxosphere comp levels. I wouldn't rely too much on those net worth numbers. The sources for that information are mostly wild guesses by a journalist. Some of the drivers have recently made it to F1 and haven't yet reached a higher earning power. Several come from affluent parents, Like Lance Stroll who's "earnings" and employment come from his fathers ownership of the team and other outside interests. Wife and I are enjoying the F1 Academy show on Netflix. I'm sure you guys all know about F1 Academy. Just in case, Susie Wolf runs the Academy that is all women drivers and they compete in cars sponsored by the F1 teams. They race on the same tracks as F1. I saw the F1 movie on IMAX and I loved it. If you get a chance to go, make sure you see it on an IMAX screen because it's incredibly beautiful. The movie also stays mostly realistic, but you do have to ignore that there's a 99% chance an early 50's Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) would never have a super license. Past that, it passes the smell test and a lot of the things done on track. Think Kevin Magnussen from last year. He's also not a god tier driver that saves the team on track as most of his impact is made with making the team better. There's some niggles that they could have done a better job with, but it's nothing that will take you out of the film. Four out of five. Well worth seeing, but I'll have to wait for disc so I can pause to see how bad Apex GP really was at Silverstone compared to the 2023 F1 cars. | |||

Glad to read a positive review. The Race's summary didn't have me too optimistic. Not sure what my closest imax is, might have to settle for Dolby Atmos instead. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

Yeah, everything that happened in the movie has happened in real life. However, Sonny is brought in as a replacement driver with 9 races left in the season. If he had to do an entire season, he'd work up enough penalty points in real life that he'd be suspended before the end of the year. | |||
