Fifth Element. For a late 90s visual spectacle of a sci-fi film, it still holds.

Any of the Harry Potter franchise. It is far, far too well cast.

This was my first thought as well and I might add The Quiet Man as well. While John Ford directed John Wayne in several movies, these two stand at the pinnacle of Ford's work in my opinion.
On second thought, any movie directed by John Ford could never be improved on and therefore should never be remade!

I don't think you should remake any of them

are you so bereft of original thought that you need to plagiarize someone else's work to satisfy your career

Die Hard! Saw it 9X in the theaters.

The original Errol Flynn movies:
Captain Blood
Don Juan
They Died with their Boots on
Robin Hood was done but the original was still the best

Lawrence of Arabia with Peter O'Toole and Dr. Zhivago with Omar Sharif come to mind. Too expensive to make today as well as too political and non PC.

Another vote for Casablanca. The success of this masterpiece is predicated upon so many intangible aspects, any change would significantly alter the essence of the film.
