For real? |
I think he was the guy Ovi saw when he surfaced at the pool. There's already talk about a sequel with Hemsworth. Not minority enough!

Thank you for posting that, corsair. I really enjoyed that interview. I'll be keeping an eye out for more of Hargrave's work. He seems likely a genuinely nice, smart, and passionate guy. And I like that he worked his way up from stuntman, to stunt coordinator, to director/cameraman. A "mustang" director, if you will. Means he understands certain things that a straight director wouldn't.

Well that didn't take long. Extraction 2 Is Already In The Works At Netflix Eric Eisenberg May. 4. 2020 5:28 PM Netflix has been on a real roll as of late, releasing a string of big hits like Tiger King and Money Heist, and Extraction has very much been a part of that wave. According to the streaming service's reported metrics, audiences have been seriously digging the Chris Hemsworth-led action film – which has gained a lot of attention thanks to its intense and brutal fight sequences. Given how much press the feature has received, we've felt for a while now that a sequel would be inevitable, and finally now that other foot has dropped. Deadline is reporting that a deal has been struck that will see Avengers: Endgame co-director and Extraction writer/producer Joe Russo begin work on Extraction 2, and while deals don't seem to be official just yet, the project is apparently aiming to bring back both director Sam Hargrave, and Chris Hemsworth as hero Tyler Rake. As confirmed by Russo, the story is being hammered out, and it's being decided whether or not the film will be a sequel or a prequel. SPOILER WARNING: The rest of this article dives deep into spoiler territory for Extraction. If you have not yet seen the film, proceed at your own risk! The reason that it's significant that Joe Russo isn't promising when the follow-up film will take place is because that's a particular choice that will have a major impact on the ending of Extraction. As fans know, the Netflix movie ends on an open-ended note, as while it's at first suggested that Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake is killed, that's brought into question when the young Ovi Jr. (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) sees a mysterious figure watching over him while he's out for a swim one day months after his chaotic adventure with the mercenary. If Extraction 2 is a straight sequel and Chris Hemsworth is back in the lead role, that means that Tyler Rake did manage to survive the events of the first movie, despite being shot multiple times (including once through the throat) and falling off of a bridge. If it's a prequel, however, the open ended question of Rake's fate is maintained, and fans simply get to watch the badass and guilt-ridden hero go on another mission. For those keeping count, this is actually only the second time that a Chris Hemsworth movie outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has spawned a sequel, and it's a first since the release of The Huntsman: Winter's War in 2016. Not all of the Australian star's moves in the last decade have hit as expected, but Extraction is proving to be an exception. It's a good thing, too, as it's clear that Hemsworth put a whole lot of work into making the movie the best it could be. It's also a big win for him as a filmmaker, as it's the first feature where he is credited as a producer. Extraction 2 is obviously still in the very earliest of stages, so when we will actually get to see it is unclear at present. That being said, it will be a project we will be eyeing very closely, and we will continue to bring you updates about its progress here on CinemaBlend as the movie continues to develop. For now: are you hoping that the movie will be a prequel or a sequel? My bar for movies is pretty low. I hear Maximus Meridius when I watch a flick. "Are you not entertained"? I found myself getting really annoyed halfway through this movie. Every gun play scene was the same. Pull pistol, fight, shoot in head/neck/chest/face/breast area. Jog down road, shoot every guy that is around a corner/car/truck/tree/bush. I was entertained, but damn that movie was predictable.

I liked it and agree with most of the opinions here. I think he will need all the antibiotics in the world after going for that swim off the bridge. Surviving that is certainly well out of the realm of plausible expectation but hey, thats why we have movies right? A few generic gripes based on my training and experience (just for fun, again its a movie). 1. How do the bad guys always somehow track the good guys? I mean, its a boring movie if he jacks a boat to cross that narrow river in the middle of the night I suppose. I totally get how Sanju got blown attempting the crossing and how Chris Hemsworth sticks out a bit in full plates but especially in such a populous place I dont think you can straight up check everywhere/body as the corrupt fuzz. 2. Why do people always assume high ranking officers in Mil/LE just have all these skills. I have yet to meet the top ranked administrator that has mad call of duty skills, outside of the special kids. Most officers past Major I've encountered have to be coached through basic weapons handling. Not a knock on them but its not the skill set they focus on for a pretty reasonable reason. I think I'd have preferred that be just a random police sniper.

I enjoyed the movie so much that when I had to stop to go out for a while to do errands, when I came back I searched for it again and finished the movie. I didn't mind the ambiguous ending; hollywood likes to put stuff that's actually mindless in order to look "deep." I couldn't understand how the boy's bodyguard then teamed up with Chris. I went back a couple of times and still couldn't understand why they would work together. There was no scene to show they had a meeting of the mind. What I didn't like was the part the general played at the end. Like he became the general because he was that good??? He didn't have a specialist to do that for him? And how come nobody else was with him? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." That point got lost on me the first time; watched it again and was able find the connection. Its not the cleanest plot point and easy to miss in all the frenetic action but, watch it a second time and those nuances will become more visible.
And, yes, having high ranking military officers actually do the trigger pulling is painfully unrealistic. I think its an attempt by scriptwriters to show how powerful the bad guy is; For the tech advisors, it's a balance of picking your battles and knowing when your input is valued.

Theoretically….. You're a filthy rich drug lord in a slummy city in India or wherever. You buy the chief of police. You buy the local military commander. You buy whoever else you need. So the chief of police/military commander can put the order out "Hey, we're looking for Guy X. May be with a local kid. Attempt to arrest him, but watch out, he's dangerous." Pretty innocuous order, seems legit. And when the Anglo goes off and whacks whole patrols, you're more likely to get (without asking) the result you want....dead Anglo. But it'd be harder to maintain that façade of legitimacy and give an order to your police HRT sharpshooter "See that guy? Ventilate his head." That might raise questions. Plus in that specific situation, he somehow miraculously had a direct line of sight to the bridge. LOL _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

Sequel should be up right now on Netflix. Or at least by early morning. Looks good for a mindless action movie. Set in a prison this time I believe. A Perpetual Disappointment...

My wife and I enjoyed Extraction and have been looking forward to Extraction 2, so I know what we'll be watching tonight "America is at that awkward stage. I am looking forward to it. I just hope it didn’t become a CGI John Wick crap fest. Over the top I can handle and enjoy. Countless 30 minute fight scenes and bullet proof clothes I just can’t.

My wife and I just finished it. I fear jljones will be disappointed. My wife didn't care for most of it. It was just ok for me. If you liked JW2 and (from what I read) JW3, I imagine you'll like it. If you like action but prefer it be amidst a movie with some meat on it's bones, maybe not so much. "America is at that awkward stage. Helmsworth and crew know how to make an action movie. Unbelievable story, but… to quote Randolph Churchill “Holy, holy, holy fuck.” Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

I understand the comments above now. Unbelievable is putting it mildly. Not as good as the first and the story got pretty stupid, multiple times. The kid calling the Nagazi, oh my, I had no fucking idea that was going to happen Then the Nagazi attack in Vienna. I give it a C. Still better than watching SuperHo anything or Disney woke bullshit. It was like watching a video game. The action was so over the top and long at times it got a little boring. I was literally picking out the video game archetypes. My favorite was the giant “tank” guy all armored up. You can’t miss him. That said it was a giant splody’ movie and there was fun to be had but like everybody else said no meat and I hesitate to use the term unbelievable for a movie which is supposed to be unbelievable but damn…….. The first one was absolutely better. Like I said think video game going in to this one. One thing I kept thinking was my foot was run over by an F150 in like 1996 and that Sonofabitch STILL hurts. Tyler Rake literally dies, ends up in a coma and 9 months and a few push ups later he’s going full Max Payne on everybody. If I come out of a coma, 9 months later I doubt I will be going……out to breakfast. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

My review: Mindless entertainment. Not to be watched a second time. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

That was funny. He’s hobbling around invalid. Leg in some half cage, arm in a sling. He just takes them shits off and starts doing pushups then does a full on Rocky IV snow montage. No meeting with the doctor, PT, nothing. Just takes them shits off and bam, Rocky IV. DRAGO!!!!!!!!! What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
