I just cut an opening in a filament box and put it up against the back of my P2S against the wall. Haven't emptied it yet..

Not a bad idea. I printed a poop bucket, may see if the same maker has a larger version.

I was going to print one but it would take up more of my limited workspace having it route to the side.

I got lots of Filament boxes! Big Grin

Mine attaches on the back.
I'd seen the side slides, but my cabinet is just sized for the footprint of the P1S. So the side slide would be hanging off.
Also see some with a slide that you just put a small trash can under & it dumps off the end.

Arrggghhh!

Had another Extruder overload error today. I had been printing with out issue for several tasks. Switched put the PETG to start printing PLA and after about three layers it overloaded. Not sure why, the PETG purged out and color change went ok. Got it opened up and cleared, confirmed nozzle clear and I was off to the races.

Until I got an AMS failure to load filament error on the color change Roll Eyes. I was out running errands so it sat for about 2 hours waiting for me to acknowledge the error and deal with it.

Not sure why, spool fed and loaded ok when I loaded it before starting the job. I unloaded it, the end was cleanly cut and not deformed, loaded again ok and was able to resume the print. Will see how well it fuses to the previous layers when it is done.

In the bright side I am getting pretty comfortable tearing the tool head apart. I think I’ll time myself next time Big Grin

This has all been with HobbyLobby PLA, not sure if that's related.

Weird, I'd think maybe a common firmware issue, bit we're on different printers. Unless it's an AMS issue alone.
The thing I printed ended up with a partial failed layer on the border, worked out & still looks good.

I've got an A1 open bedslinger but I thought I read with the P2S you should keep a top glass open when printing PLA to let some heat out. Maybe something to look into.

Brand new error today!

"Extrude failure" or something of that sort. AMS not feeding or extruder not pulling.

Getting real aggravated and started a support ticket with Bambu. I am thinking it might be n issue with the AMS. Seems every problem I have had is with filament in the number two slot.

Tried to print a set of water/swim hand paddles. First one printed fine, during the second one I got the error and ws no go on two retries.

Switched the filament to first position and was able to get the second on printed.

Now printing the straps for them out of TPU using th external feed and directly into the extruder, not going through the PTFE tubes.

Did a small demo before starting and it went off without a hitch. Now doing a 2 hour print for 4 straps and if all goes well instead of paying $15-$20 on Amazon, I will have made my own for about $3 worth of filament, including the scrap.

Fingers crossed, I will be using them tomorrow in the pool at the Y

While most of my stuff has been practical (Headphone stands, MetaQuest 3 holder, sorting trays, mini nightstand shelfs, monitor/desk risers, wall anchors, etc. etc. The most FUN I've had with it is the couple of toys I have done.

I have a bunch of 1:18 scale figures both from my childhood (GI JOE) and as an adult as during COVID I started building some dioramas, putting them out on a shelf etc.

I've always wanted to do a bit of a "Rat Patrol" theme and while I can source the WW2 figures I could never really source any 1:18 scale vehicles for what I wanted to do. Hey you got a 3D printer at Christmas says me.........To the analog Star Trek Replicator!

I went about upsizing and modifying a small German Half Track model first and I was pretty happy with how it ultimately came out.

The figures are for scale as it will eventually be populated with some Panzer Grenadiers.

Next I needed a Jeep to go with it. Once again I found a small model online and went to cutting/modifying/upsizing/ and generally dicking with. This one was harder and took a few more iterations but all in all I happy with the way it turned out. I have a some paint issues but for now decided to leave them as "character/wear" on the Jeep.

I just finished it. Again figures for scale only. It will eventually be populated with a Troy and either Moffet or Hitchcock figure.

All in all I am pretty happy with my stab building some roughly 1:18 scale vehicles for the figures. (I realize the scale isn't exact its just meant to fit the figures so to speak)

I started with this.

and got to this eventually.

I might still do some more paint work but all it all its doing what I want it to.

This 3D printing stuff is fun. Big Grin

Wow, that is some fantastic work!

Unfortunately my painting skills resemble a pig with vertigo slingin' poo on a trampoline more than finely applied colors with intricate detail.

Update on the swim paddles, they turned out ok. Finish was a little rough but that may have been more an issue with the model than my printer.

Have printed several small projects over the past couple days without issue so hopefully the problem is resolved.

I am trying to keep good notes on what settings I ave good outcome with as far as speed, temps, etc. Learning that for best result, thinner layers and slower speeds are my friend.

My last few prints have been more practical in nature.
Printed the AMS flipper [not installed yet]. Have had need to get into the top glass & trying to hold a loaded AMS & manage the glass top isn't exactly easy.
Also printed a plate scraper that mounts to the front door handle. Got some filament under a fingernail trying to release some base material.

I've had to deal with so many extruder issues I have relocated my AMS to the tabletop next to the printer for now. Will probably print a riser before too long, but need to make sure it is printing reliably before committing to an 18 hour project.

I printed a scraper/blade storage/holder that I attached to the side using Alien Tape.

Working on some craft stuff for the Sunday School kids for Easter right now with the occasional small thing tossed in (toothpaste tube squeezers, box for the toolkit, etc.)

This came up on my X feed... nothing like a NASCAR heavy weight Dale Earnhardt Jr posting he's into 3D printing now and looking for help to bring out the responses, it's at least a good source to read.

Apparently this guy @FilimentFriday, has a utoob channel on 3D printing and is well respected, thought it would be a good source to pass on...

here is the link to the utoob channel.

I've read the 3D printers can use TPU or TPE to create flexible items like plugs or grommets. I also read that they are difficult to use. Does anyone use those and is that true?

I haven’t personally tried TPE yet though a friend used it to print a new seat shock absorber for a 60s moped he was building. Worked well for that, so I would certainly give it a try.

He and I talked the other day at one of the cruise ins about TPE to print no-longer-produced seals for things like air boxes and the like.

I've seen some TPU stuff in the app, but I haven't ventured past PLA yet.

I printed a pair of swim paddles, they included printing straps of TPU to hold them on.

No problem, evidently TPU does give off some VOC fumes, so ventilation more important than PLA/PETG. Although I didn't really notice any strong smell or smoke.

Evidently TPU is more susceptible to moisture so need to dry it and keep humidity down. My printer I needed to feed direct into extruder and going through PTFE tubes can cause feed problems.

Otherwise was no big deal.

My new-to-me Subaru has a rather pointless little cubby in front of the cupholders. Too small to fit a phone & not much use for anything else.
Found a file for a phone holder that routes the charger cord through it. Fits great, in both the little cubby and the phone. But the holes for the charger must be Apple sized, as my USB-C cords are all too thick to fit without excessive effort.
May try to either file down the phone end of one of the cords to test, or open up the holes in the mount. Just printed in PLA as a test, since I don't have any PETG yet.

Use your slicer or something like TinkerCAD to modify it how you wish. I’ve started with lots of baseline stuff and basically modified it to my wants. Hell the two vehicles above started out as fairly tiny simple models.

Leaning to adjust, or make my own, models is on my to-do list.
This was printed in PLA while likely won't last long in the Houston summer. Gave me a good idea of fitment.

Need to order some PETG.

I’ve had a Bambu P1S for about 45 days. Very impressive. I’ve printed all sorts of things - some of which were very complex. I’m addicted to filament and probably have 45 spools that are mostly Bambu. When I make something with a buttload of color changes, I generally print 6 of them. We give prints to friends periodically.

I understand that Makers World adds 6,500 models every day. With the sudden surge of sales, Bambu seems to be very short of filament inventory. Didn’t expect to pick up a new hobby at 76. Now I’m trying to learn CAD.
