I alternate between the TG & F1 channels

Yep. For sure.

I will add I've been a huge fan of Jay Leno's Garage, the TV show.
I recently saw a special episode with James May on with Jay Leno.
I was quite surprised at how much older Jay looked.
Jay will be missed too--he's a great human being who shares his love of cars with the world.

After more than two decades of motoring all over the world, the trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond aired the final episode of The Grand Tour last September. Now, they've got a new show coming to Amazon Prime, and they've thought up a cheekily fitting name: The Not Very Grand Tour.

According to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), the show's description reads: "The team celebrates the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives." It will be directed by Phil Churchward, who directed a significant number of Top Gear and The Grand Tour episodes throughout the decades.

The new show is set to be released on April 18 in the United Kingdom. While there's no word on whether or not the show will be released elsewhere, the wide reach of the trio and Amazon make it seem likely. Right now, the first and only episode we currently have info on is titled The Glory and the Power, which makes sense given the show's description.

Unfortunately, it appears the new show will have to make do without Clarkson present. A report from the British outlet Radio Times says that only May and Hammond will be hosting the show and that Clarkson's appearances will be limited to his time in the archival footage. While the show won't be the same without him, we'll be glad to see the three together again in any format.

Roughly a year and a half ago, we learned that Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond had returned from Zimbabwe after completing filming of the final special for their Amazon Prime Video series The Grand Tour. The emotional episode aired last September, giving the world a chance to say goodbye to the motoring trio's decades of adventures. Come 2025, however, we'll soon have a chance to welcome them back in a new installment called — wait for it — The Not Very Grand Tour.

Let’s get to the good news first. According to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), the new show was directed by Phil Churchward, series director of The Grand Tour. The BBFC also lists the cast as Clarkson, Hammond, and May. The sole episode that we know about is called ‘The Glory and The Power,’ and the description of the show reads: “The team celebrate the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives.”

The BBFC goes on to warn readers that the episode contains the implication of strong language, complete with innuendo and rude humor about horse droppings and French police officers, and also notes about a building explosion. In other words, it sounds like everything you'd expect in a typical Top Gear / Grand Tour-style episode with these three.

That said, fans may want to temper their excitement a bit, because as the name somewhat implies, it won't be a typical episode. The description clearly states it will be a look back at previous footage — in other words, a clip show. In addition, a report from British entertainment journal Radio Times claims that only May and Hammond will be showing up to chat about the archival video, while Clarkson's role will be limited to his appearance in the old clips.

According to IMDb, "The Glory and The Power" episode of The Not Very Grand Tour is set to be released in the U.K. on Prime Video on April 18; it's unclear when it will be released elsewhere, but given Amazon's global reach and the trio's broad appeal, it's hard to imagine it won't be limited to Clarkson, May and Hammond's homeland. Even if there's little to no new content, however, seeing the guys back on the screen together is bound to make millions of fans very happy.

The Grand Tour has driven into the sunset. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May's final episode, One For The Road, aired last September on Amazon Prime. Prior to that, the trio dissolved their production company, W. Chump and Sons. We've seen some occasional YouTube content of the presenters living life since then, but nothing that points to a grand Grand Tour revival.

And that's still the case today: The Grand Tour as we know it won't return. But something is brewing at Amazon Prime. In its list of upcoming shows for April 2025 is a program called The Not Very Grand Tour, airing April 18. There are no details mentioned with the listing, just a short brief advising people to "stay tuned for updates." That said, the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) lists the program as a television series for 2025 starring the aforementioned hosts. Interesting.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) goes even further, suggesting this will be a series with multiple episodes. According to BBFC, the first episode is titled The Glory and the Power and features "the team [celebrating] the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives." In other words, it sounds like Amazon is preparing a series of greatest-hits-style clip shows.

Several of these were created from the trio's days at Top Gear, covering everything from the most ambitious adventures to the biggest fails. This theory is supported by RadioTimes.com, which reports that Hammond and May will serve as hosts as they look back on various moments during the show's eight-year run. Clarkson will only show up in archived footage, so it's not a full-blown reunion. Bummer.

Hammond hasn't pulled away from the car scene since The Grand Tour's last episode. He makes regular appearances on DriveTribe, and he's filmed a few short clips with May as well. Clarkson seems focused on his farm, announcing last year that season five of Clarkson's Farm was confirmed. Also, there was the time Clarkson said modern cars are "all shit," ironically during his watch party for The Grand Tour's final episode. So he may not be too keen on sitting down for a collection of greatest hits shows just yet.

Given how well The Grand Tour did for Amazon, don't be surprised if a teaser crops up between now and April. Watching Hammond and May banter over past adventures should be entertaining, but it's not the reunion fans are yearning for. In any case, we'll probably tune in on April 18, if only to relive some of the trio's best moments without fast-forwarding through dozens of old episodes.
