I’m the only one in the theater at the moment and it starts in 15 minutes. My son and his buddy are looking at the movie posters for sale.

I'll be taking the kids this weekend. We all dug the series. It's been one of the only Star Wars things Disney has put out that hasn't been trash.

There wound up being about 15 people including us. I liked the series, but have nothing good to say about the movie.

My two word summary: recycled garbage.

Disney killed Star Wars. Other than Andor it was sad to see what they did to my favorite childhood franchise.

For me, it's Star Trek. Same pattern, modern political correctness and identity politics eroded it away until there was nothing left.

As for Mango and Grok, I'll give it a pass.

I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.

Disney will never change as long as people still give them their money. Film, or their streaming service. Once the coffers dry up they’ll be forced to change.

was 14 when Star Wars came out
saw it 7 times in the theater,

caught the next 2 in the theater as well, then got the VHS,

would argue that the next set, pre Disney I am pretty sure, (as in episodes 1/2/3) ruined it

then 7/8/9 were as bad,

the disney stuff is crap,

jmho of course

The prequels were disappointing. The Disney era was a huge middle finger to fans over and over and over and I think it was intentional to a degree.

I don’t think George Lucas set in to destroy the franchise with episode 1-3. With Disney to a degree they intentionally destroyed beloved characters from the beginning of the franchise. In my eyes there is a stark difference. The Lucas stuff was clumsy and lazy the Disney stuff was just fucking awful.

The new Maul animated series actually turned out pretty good.

Sorry, OP. I hoped you knew this would degrade into a Disney hating thread.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL TOPIC:

It was meh, like a 2.5 hour long episode, but less creative. It was pretty much the same recycled stuff. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Hutt’s voice. It was too human. The kids were entertained, so...

Uncreative, unimaginative, unoriginal, uninspired…

Oh it’s Top Gun, Blade Runner, Close Encounters, Godzilla, the video game Need for Speed. Emo the Hutt, “I am not my Father” wah, wah, wah. The Star Wars deck of cards has an Ace of Spades?

Halfway though, I wanted to touch the screen or hit a button on the remote to see how much time was left. I almost walked out from shear boredom. It would have been the second time in my life I called it quits on a movie. The first time was some movie with Penelope Cruz and the theater worker was kind enough to give me a pass for another movie.

Oh well.
