P365XL - Rear sight moved off of the optic cut cover plate? Login/Join

I think the slides with the Rear Sight Plate are/were intended to be used with SIG's optics that feature a Rear Sight Notch in the housing. I believe this rear sight notch works with many standard height front sights. This is a nice feature if you remove the optic, because you're not left with tall suppressor-height sights.

However, many LE Agencies require separate BUIS. On the P320, slides/guns that feature a separate rear sight were called PRO models. It appears SIG is now using the term "Professional Series" to describe these guns. This option is good for those who do not intend to carry/shoot the gun without an optic.

I'm guessing these same factors/wants/requests are now being applied to the P365. I think it's great to have more options available.

You can always get a new slide. That's actually a good option if you don't want the optic on 100% of the time. Use the original slide for when you want irons only, and the new one dedicated to optic. Much simpler to change out.

I use a Holosun 507c. The built in rear sight works well with the stock front sight. It’s preferable to me over suppressor height sights which I hate.

I dislike suppresser height irons unless you actually have and use a suppresser, which IMO is a great option for home defense, but terrible for carry.

I'm a bit confused on the 507c. Looking at the spec, there's no built in sights. Seems the K series has the sights but not the C. Am I not seeing this correctly?

Well they did not have any of the new versions in stock. So the debate starts get the one XL with safety to start shooting or wait. I have 2 p365 X-macros on order.

He misspoke. I noticed it earlier this morning but had to run. 407K, 507K, EPS Carry, and EPS have built in rear sights. On most 365s 407K and 507K give a true zero with a factory front. The sights are visible in a lower 1/6th or 1/7th "cowitness", whatever that means, fashion. On EPS Carry they are barely visible for like lower 1/10th cowitness, so much so that shooting them for zero is an exercise in futility. Apparently SIG has a taller front sight for that setup.

I have an M18 and that's one of the things I don't like - that you lose the rear sight when you put on an RDS. That and the sights aren't suppressor height sights. But that doesn't mean they can' offer slides for the civilian version that does keep the rear sight with an RDS, right?

^^^ That's how I see it. My thought was that SIG traditionally hates keeping inventory on hand and it would be cheaper to make just one kind of slide for both civilian sales and military contracts. Then again, they're busy offering a range of slides to take advantage of the 320's modularity, so...I don't know.

Sig has to have the rear sight on the sight plate for the M17 and M18 because of the Loaded Chamber Indicator on the military models. So that can never change.

Yup, I meant 507k. This is a 365 thread, its the k series that it is threaded for. My bad.

Well, I didn't have to wait long. The picture below is off of SIG's site. Apparently the rear sight on the XCompact has moved off the cover plate also.

But the ones shipping without optics installed still seem to have the rear sight on the plate. This make absolutely no sense, because they seem to be going out of their way to have two different slides for essentially the same gun.

I put the Magguts +2 in my 12 round mag and it seems to function flawlessly. The base-plate is hardly any thicker than the stock part so it doesn't add much at all to the length, maybe an eighth inch at most.

Thanks for mentioning the Magguts +2 for the XL.
I just ordered 3 of them..

No pinky pinch issues like I had with my G36?
