i use breakfree clp, but I have read where alot of people don't like Rem oil. Whats wrong with Rem oil?

IIR, I THINK it disappears/dries up/evaps/doesn't last very long. It's ok for field expedient lubrication (if you're a hunter or range rat for example), but not for durable quality bench lubrication.

Now I gotta go smell my FP-10 before I hit the sack. Strange I don't recall smelling it before. Does it smell like almonds ?

Rem Oil is great for bolt guns, but it's a little light for semi autos. It's not advertised as a penetrating oil, but it's excellent for getting into places that need lube. I've used it to loosen up frozen rear sights and other tightly fitted parts.

Recently saw someone who internet tested lots of differing products. Hornady One Shot Gun Cleaner and Lube took #1 in both rust protection and low friction. (there is a One Shot for reloading, different products)

My fear is that it may (but I have no idea) contain the chlorinated Esters that cause stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in guns but particularly stainless.

Lucas Extreme Duty gun oil. The blue one.

M-Pro 7 LPX, Weaponshield, and Slip 2000 EWL 30. Also use Slip 2000 grease.

Mobil 1 synthetic 20w-50
For grease I love militec. It smells like old wooden roller coasters.

FP10 for places that needs a drop of oil and Slide Glide Lite grease for frame rails.

Lucas Extreme and Gunbutter.

Has anyone ever had situation where a gun was properly maintained with really ANY kind of reasonable lubricant (even expedient, non-gun related stuff like motor oil, ATF, EVOO, etc.) and had a lubricant related issue?

Yes, I have seen seriously dried up and Caked WD-40 nearly lock up a couple older weapons. When that stuff dries hard it can be nasty to get off..........

I bought a used pre B CZ-75 and immediatly started having issues with the magazine release button. It was very dificult to depress, and when I did get it to work it didn't always reset. As I was having other issues with the pistol, I took it completely apart. The magazine release button was coverd in some kind of slightly yellow plastic like material, and it was that material that was causing it to bind up in the frame. I can ony assume the previous owner used WD-40 or some other type of oil and the residue built up over time.

This is my experience with Remoil also. Breakfree CLP tends to stay put and stay long.
