For years I have wanted a totally pimped out Mexican Colt 1911 in .38 Super. I have no practical reason for it at all. I don't even like pimped out guns but for some reason I want one of these. Bright nickel finish and it has to have at least one eagle and snake on it.

Hi yes, I've always wanted a Walther P38 chambered in .30 Luger. I have no real use for other than being an uncommon caliber chamber for a WW2 era pistol.

I want an MP5. I don't need it, and I wouldn't do anything practical with it whatsoever, but the desire is still very much there.

The main draw is it looks cool and Bruce Willis used one in Die Hard. Which ironically is the reason I bought my first gun, a Beretta 92, almost 20 years ago. Totally the wrong reasons to buy a gun, but it turned out to be awesome. I've never shot an MP5, but I have a feeling it would be the same way.

IMO, you're not "really" a gun person if you never had that itch.... finances not withstanding. I remember times when each purchase had a relevant meaning (bird hunting, deer/bear, self-defense), but now I like to buy just cuz I want it! Like my #X (enter number between 5 and 10) 10/22 rifle to modify!!!

I want an 8-shot 357 Magnum 2 5/8 inch barrel N-frame Smith & Wesson without a lock and with the fluted cylinder. Yes it is a movie gun. No there is no practical reason to have it.

I want a legit WWII M1A1 Thompson SMG.

A good retired Army SFC, Vietnam vet had one when I was at Hood. I’ve wanted one since. Almost had one a few summers ago from GB but got outbid. Yes, it cost more than my last several cars. But you only live once.

A Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 and / or a “Scout Rifle” long-gun. In fact, let’s install a Scout-style scope on that Marlin.

I have no real use for either, they both just seem very cool to me.

Nooooo. That’s crazy talk. Perish the thought. Roll Eyes Wink

While I can ascribe a “reason” and or justify anything I do kinda want a “dinosaur gun” more aptly known as a Marlin 45/70 lever gun. The gun is expensive, the ammo is expensive, I don’t have a dinosaur pesting problem and frankly this one is hard to justify but damn if they aren’t fun to shoot.

I have had the opportunity to shoot an H&K MP5SD and I will tell you that if I lived in a state that would allow me to own one, I'd do it in a heartbeat. You really owe it to yourself to go to someplace like Battlefield Las Vegas and try it. You will regret it for the rest of your life for ALL the best reasons.

So yeah, an MP5SD or an MP5K are my "want" guns. Plus an H&K HK 21/11 machine gun.

I’ve had chance to shoot a fair number of full autos and the MP5 and MP5SD is the top of my list. They are amazing guns to shoot. A close second would be an MG42……that noise is like a sack cloth ripping and it’s awesome. I mean terrifying if your on the other end but purely from a hobbyists perspective it’s AWESOME.

But if you told me I could have one full auto it would be an MP5SD without a second thought.

MP5. Just because.
I have shot some full auto stuff except that one.

A local business has a Thompson, MP5, P90, 45/70 Gatling gun, and more.

May have to stop in and rent one.

Winchester 1886 .45-70. Why? I got a "too good to pass up" price on a Colt SAA in .45LC. I'd never really had any interest in the SAA, but at the price I couldn't justify NOT buying it. Y'all know how that goes. Of course there's a law or something that says when you buy a cowboy revolver, you're required to also buy a lever gun in the same caliber to go with it. So when I researching 1873's I somehow developed a yen for an 1886. So now I have both in my safe and hardly ever take them out. Roll Eyes

Beretta Jetfire in .22 Short. Ended up shooting it more than many other guns I owned. Used it to shoot at pigeons underneath highway bridges. The ricochets made things interesting!

I want the very same 1911 for the very same reason.

Ever want a gun for absolutely no practical reason?

Duh!
1950’s-60’s Colt Python
Low digit Colt 1911
H&K P-7
H&K MP5 or MP5SD (the Navy trigger would be nice)
H&K G-3, G-33.
There’s more than a few beautifully engraved guns (looking at you ZO6 Wink) on here. I already have a few revolvers, 1911’s, and Walther. I don’t “need” any more, but I would snatch an extra engraved on up in a heartbeat if it was at the right price!
Tommy Gun
Uzi
Who wouldn’t want a functioning Browning M-2?!?!
Barrett M-82

Cigardad hit one- a nice Bren 10.
BigSwede’s choice- a BAR.

There’s a few higher end over under 12ga!
Cabot puts out some beautiful 1911’s
An original lever action from the late 1800’s, same with a single action pistol.

.338 / .408 / 300WinMag (with glass)

For me, little to no “practical” reason for any of the above.
Mere “wants”, don’t get me wrong, they are some nice (and expensive) wants. Some stuff that the minute you open the gun safe, anyone that is somewhat of an aficionado goes “OOOOOHHHHH! Is that what I think it is?!?”

I have “enough” pistols of various popular calibers
A few rifles that scratch the itch.
A 12 ga pump and semiautomatic.
