No place to go and

I picked up my LCP Max yesterday and after a dryfire session, took it to the bench and replaced the trigger with the Galloway Sigurt Short Stroke trigger. I must say that the effect was impressive, the take up, break and reset were greatly improved. I also replaced the takedown pin but with the Mcarbo version. The takedown of the Max is similar to the LCP ll but the Max has only one frame pin, the rear of the chassis is held in place by the hammer spring and reassembly is easier in that the hammer catch is now in the chassis instead of the frame.

The only problem I have is that my wife likes the Max better than her LCP ll.

Just another day in paradise.

I got mine a few weeks ago and I've had it to the range three times since. Bottom line is it's very concealable, pretty accurate for a pocket pistol, and so far with a variety of FMJ defense rounds it has been 100% reliable ..with one exception, did not like the Fiocchi 90 XTP Extrema round. The trigger has a very long takeup but a clean break. With a lot of practice you can learn to stage the trigger and that will improve accuracy. The included pocket holster is a nice add-on.
Only downside is this is not a particularly pleasant gun to shoot for any extended period of time. I have ordered the 12-round mags from Ruger and got a note that they have shipped. I'm hoping this makes it a little more livable.

I still have a 1st gen LCP and carry it fairly often in my pocket, in a wallet holster of my own design. If I wanted anything more, then my new P-365 fills the need 100%.

While the LCP Max is interesting in some ways, I really cannot see it being any better than my 365 in 9mm Luger!

Same here, mine has 1200 rds and still shoots great. Once/if that ever breaks, I have two more in the safe waiting to replace it.

I carry the G-43X (sometimes the G-19) when I might need more firepower.

The Max is $387 with free shipping at KyGuns but they're out of stock.

I didn't have good luck with the Galloway Siguard trigger in my LCP II. I had to hold my trigger finger a certain way at the bottom, to engage the safety tab to get the trigger to pull through.

Simply putting my finger in the triggerguard and squeezing the trigger, would result in a trigger stoppage. I replaced it back to original trigger, should have returned it, but I didn't.

Glad they made the Max easier to detail strip.

This thread was very helpful to me.

I had a Kel-Tec P32 I bought in 2004, found it a little sketchy, then carried a J frame frequently, then bought an original LCP in 2010 and a LCP II in 2014. Always liked the really small form factor of the LCP and found it to be much more reliable than the Kel-Tec P32 it replaced. My two biggest dislikes of the pistol were the trigger pull and the nonexistent sights. It’s replacement, the LCP II, managed to fix those pretty well but the shape of the grip changed enough to feel “triangular” in my hand somehow.

After seeing some pictures and reading other’s comments, I agree the LCP MAX can replace the LCP II and does carry very, very well.

If I were to carry in the waist band or outside the waistband this would be a hard pass in favor of the P365. This is especially true because the height of the magazines seems to be almost the same.

The gun shines in the pocket, however. It keeps nearly the same weight as the LCP II and is a half-pound lighter than the P365. On paper it may not seem like a lot of difference, but it’s subjectively night and day in a pair of athletic shorts.

For what the gun is designed to do which is provide an easily pocketed gun (for quick errands or hot weather), it bridges the capacity gap and lack of sights that made the LCP II a decent but not great CCW.

For size, LCP all day. The LCP II was better sights and better trigger that felt weird on my hand, so I should have skipped it. I like the LCP MAX as a pocket gun. P365 outclasses it, so this is a great second gun to save on weight.

I feel very comfortable with the reduction of pistols I have down to P365XL for IWB (I have the P365 grip module and can swap between a slick CCW with a 10 round and very near duty gun with the 15 round, red dot and light) and LCP MAX as a lightweight pocket option that offers real sights, a decent (but not great) trigger and 2x capacity of my J frame or pocket .380s in the same size envelope.

Recap: IWB? Skip and go to P365 (or P365XL and have the option to swap frames and add red dot etc.) Pocket? Highly recommended as an upgrade to J frame/single stack .380, worth it for P365 owners if weight is a primary concern but otherwise may not be worth it to you.

Range Report

I took my new LCP Max to the range today for the first time.

80 brass case FMJ down range. No issues. 11 rounds of Gold Dot 90 grain, no issues. 11 rounds of Federal HST 99 grain, no issues.

This is a sweet shooting little gun. Feels good in the hand, not too snappy, certainly less snappy than my 9MM P365.

I'm really digging this pistol. My G42 that is carried most, will be on the way back burner to this new gun. I plan on carrying this thing most days...

I finally got around to shooting my Max last week. The recoil didn't bother me, and I didn't have a target, just plinking at a couple of tin cans.

I actually prefer the 10 round magazine to the 12 rounders, the pistol seems to point better. One thing noticeable, is the weight. Carrying the Max with the 12 round magazine is not heavy, but not light either. Much different than my LCPII.

One thing I changed was the trigger. The factory trigger caused bad trigger sting, so I took another chance on a Galloway trigger for the Max. Ordered and Installed it, this one worked perfectly, unlike my previous experience.

I also ordered and installed Galloways 13lb recoil spring. My next move is having the slide done in Matte black Ion Bond.
