P365® PISTOLS OPERATOR’S MANUAL: HANDLING & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
https://www.sigsauer.com/media...0116-01_REV07_LR.pdf

3.1 PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

...Prior to firing the pistol for the first time, we strongly suggest that you perform an initial cleaning and
lubrication of the pistol after you unpack it...

+++++++++

Sig very specifically recommends that you clean and lubricate your P365 before you use it. I'm not sure if what comes on the pistol from the factory is specifically a lubricant, or if it is mainly a preservative, or maybe it's a CLP.

Cleaning and lubricating my brand new P365XL made the trigger a bit smoother and less grabby, but it still wasn't smooth yet.

True, but you might want to consider your location. If you carry your pistol in subzero weather you would be advised to use a synthetic lubricant. If you live in a very dry and dusty area you might consider a dry lubricant. If you live in a very humid area you probably want to use an oil or grease to reduce the possibility of corrosion.

+++++++++

1.2 AMMUNITION

...Do not lubricate cartridges, and be sure to wipe the chamber clean of any oil or preservative before
shooting. Oil interferes with the friction between cartridge case and chamber wall that is necessary for
safe functioning, and subjects the firearm to stress similar to that imposed by excessive pressure...

3.1 PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: BEFORE LOADING, ALWAYS CLEAN ALL GREASE AND OIL FROM THE BORE AND CHAMBER, AND VERIFY THAT NO OBSTRUCTION IS IN THE BARREL...

+++++++++

This I found interesting. It would appear that Sig expects a substantial amount of the propellent gasses to escape before the bullet leaves the barrel. Oil or grease inside the barrel would improve the seal between the bullet and barrel and between the shell case and firing chamber and reduce propellent gas leakage enough to cause an overpressure condition.

Bought my Tac Ops last Saturday but between fighting off a cold and life in general it still sits in the box.

Maybe this weekend……

Took it to the indoor range today and was very impressed. The recoil was not bad at all and it was very accurate. I fired some Blazer Brass and a few of my reloads and it worked just fine.

Now, I want to get it outside and do some more shooting.

Wednesday is probably out. Have been “volunteered” to go house shopping with my S-I-L and a prediction of severe weather tomorrow afternoon/evening has changed my tentative plans for the day.

Ok, my range report fwiw.

Quick disassembly at home, wipe down and lube with Wilson Combat Lite Oil, I was kind of curious about it, seems pretty popular at the shop I work at. Previously used Rem Oil or Hoppe’s and figured “why not”?

Took it and fifty rounds of Herter’s branded 115gr 9mm to the Lange late this afternoon.

Fifty rounds, no FTF, no FTE, no malfunctions. Plastic pin at the rear corner of the grip started to come out, pressed it back in and it seemed to lock into place. It may have been a fluke, I should know later this week if there is a problem as I wanted to run a hundred or so rounds through it before I start carrying it.

My usual carry gun up to now has been a Shield 1.0, I consistently shot that low and to the right. I’m not blaming the gun, it’s me. But the 365, like the Shadow Systems Compact that I shot at work,I’m centering it on the target, my hand position feels more natural than it does with the Shield. I’m pretty satisfied with my first range trip but as time and practice goes on I should tighten up my groups.

Took a bit of getting used to the magazine loader, up until now I’ve always done the deed by hand but smashing the tips of five fingers in a garage door incident a few weeks back has made them a bit sensitive to pressure. I’ve used an Uplula in the past but could not justify almost forty bucks for one. Once I got the hand of the Sig loader it was easy.

All and all I’m really pretty satisfied with my purchase.

I received a 10 rd magazine in the mail on Saturday and I like the way it fit. It makes the gun a bit more compact.

I shot it outdoors today and it was much better than inside. The green front sight sure shows up in bright sun light.

I found I don't like the 10 rd magazine as much when firing the gun. Just not enough grip to hang onto. The pinkie extension is a great help.

If your carry method can handle the extra grip height I would strongly suggest that you install the taller XL grip module. It requires less than 30 seconds to swap the grip modules, so you can swap them as your carry method of the day dictates. You can even install the even taller X-Macro grip module with it's 17 rd magazine if you want to open carry.

I bought an Sig p365-380 two weeks ago. Took it to the range today. It’s a sweet shooter, I think it is perfect for the 380 caliber. Ordered a Wilson combat grip module and a slightly curved Armory Craft trigger for it. I’m older and it’s the perfect car gun, travel gun for us senior citizens. Going to move my 9mm Dan Wesson Valor to house duty.
