With that pricing I am betting the 30+ year old original West German P226’s that are or will be for sale might go up a little in their selling prices since currently a like new or lightly used original German models can be purchased in the $650 to $900 range.
This is where I remember Para’s rule related to NOT posting links to auction sites

What gets me is while I really like the Houge grips, two things stand out. First they are off the shelf; no Sig logo like the elite darks were (love the grips, but they can scratch) and two as I think someone mentioned somewhere, why not toss on a set of OG polymer grips from the factory if they want to do a throw back. Probably knock a hundred off the price too. I'm not saying it's not sharp but after the initial pictures, I'm just not sold on it for that price point. Still want one though
I hope the grips pictured are just a stand-in (sort of like the pre-production P210 Carry grips). I don’t mind the lack of logos here since they are supposed to be like the old West German polymer grips. But the description on SIG’s website says “recreation grips”. You’d think that would mean that SIG asked Hogue to actually make a unique model, instead of just slapping on a set that you or I can just buy from Hogue’s website.
Of all the things Sig released during their event, this is the one that made me do a double take. I guess I'll be having one once they become available. Nothing better than a basic P226. Good on Sig.
I actually really like the yellow box and P226 history book. Nice touches.

The price does hurt. I noticed it is similar to the release price of the new P210, which I eventually found for <$1000 after waiting at least 6 months after it became available (and before everything went circa 2020 nuts).
I was really glad I got the Glock P80 when it was released--this looks like Sig's version of that--retro cool in a throwback box with a small handful of modern aspects to make it more better useable superior. So, I still want one of these and will call my LGS tomorrow to see if they can source one soon.
If you want a classic P226: pay money on GB or otherwise get lucky sourcing a W. German sample. Otherwise, since a non-rail option has been unavailable for years now, I very much welcome this addition to the lineup.
Not sure if nuSig ever reads the forums anymore, but in the off-chance they are paying attention: overall, well done & keep it coming.
P.S.--Is anyone else super excited about this because it may extended the time before Sig ever abandons manufacturing "outdated" parts?

"Why so plain? The 40th anniversary P220 has engraving, threaded barrel and night sights. This looks like a plain P226 that you couldn't pick out that it was a 40th anniversary without really looking at the grips!"

Well I thought about picking one up as it looks like the one I carry (stainless slide short extractor), but at that price it is 3 to 3 1/2 times what I paid for mine.

Did anyone notice on the video posted that the magazine release on the right side of the gun looks different than a standard P226? Kinda looks like a version of a P320, but round.
