I have bought replacements for most everything I have sold that I have missed.
Ruger Mark series seems to be the most common
M1 carbines

Currently, I kind of want a p7, Just to add one more to my HK Club. I hated every P7,P7m8 I owned or shot. The trigger was shit, sights to small, grip angle funky, cleaning was a bitch. Shooting more than 50 rounds at a geriatric pace heated the gun up till it was uncomfortable to shoot. I refuse to pay 2k, or more for a what should be a $500 dollar gun.

What I would like to pick up that has slipped out of my hands over the last few years is a Beretta 81, and a Beretta 86F.

Perfect condition P228, but I was recently able to buy it back. I won't make that mistake again.

None. No hurt. No regrets.

Same here.

They are just things.

Once I find the perfect one.... many more will go!

I’ve been extremely fortunate through the years and have not had to sell any guns to fund other things. I can certainly understand the need to do so, as many others have stated; medical expenses, feed the family, pay the rent/mortgage, etc.

The only gun I have ever traded away was a Taurus Model 85 for a Ruger Mark II 6” standard (which I still have and shoot). A few years later my Dad gave me a stainless M85, which I also still have.

I have a Gen 3 G23 that over the years I have talked about trading for something else I wanted at the time, but my wife (God bless her!) always said “You don’t want to do that; just buy the one you’re wanting...” Now, I wouldn’t sell that G23 anyway, and in fact just put Trijicon HD XR sights on it.

Again, I am thankful that I’ve not been forced to sell off any guns, but I know the day could come eventually.

Now, ask me about all the vehicles I’ve sold or traded and wish I still had...

But if it's just steel and wood it's understandable.

Some people have emotional attachments and memories to objects. Others do not. Simple as that. Family heirlooms are just irrelevant to some. Depends on your cognitive style and personality makeup.

It never fails that after I sell a gun, they go up in value. I have sold and traded a lot over the years, but here is my list of ones that i really miss (in no kind of order)

1. AWA (Colt SAA copy) from when they were good. A 5 1/2 barrel in 357

2. A Winchester 94, 100 year anniversary, in 45 Colt.

3. A Winchester 97 12 guage that was made in 1910.

4. A Sig 229 in 9mm

5. S&W Highway Patrolman with a 4 inch barrel.

The ones that hurt the most ...

Rifle, A Pre '64 Winchester Model 70 in .264 Win Mag.

Shotgun, A Beretta 687 O/U.

Hand gun, A S&W Performance Series 587 K Comp .357 which I foolishly traded for a HK USP Compact .40 Cal.

Perazzi TM1

Unmolested, pristine finish. Fit me like a glove and was choked tighter than any shotgun I've ever owned. I routinely shot 50 straight in trap with it.

I'ts been 15 years and I still look for a replacement.

I have many memories of guns past, but no regrets.
They were tools that served me well and, when not working, they were tools to play with. I sold and bought guns to serve different purposes in my life, but in the end they create only memories.

In the last ~35 years I have bought, sold and/or traded the same handful of makes/models over and over again. In fact, with the exception of my Belgian Hi-Power there isn't a gun in my safe I haven't owned one or more examples of in the past. I sell/trade as my interests change or to upgrade the condition of a specific collectible model. There are only a few I have not been able to fully replace. I once owned a new condition (literally) WW II Mauser (byf) P.38 which I foolishly sold to a coworker. And while I have obtained an adequate replacement to fill the hole in my collection, it is unlikely I will ever encounter a finer wartime example than the one I sold.

Aaah, hindsight. Great, aint it?

Sounds like someone went through an expensive divorce! When my parents divorced in the early 1970's, my father had to sell of a collection of Colt SAAs. All I've got to show of them is a an old Polaroid picture. The Springfield Model 1911 (built in 1918 and carried by an officer in the Medical Corps) made it through the process and at least I've got that!

When the first "Assault Weapon Ban" was enacted in The People's Republic of California, I sold off an H&K Model 94 so I could buy two Colt AR15s. I wish I'd kept the HK and just bought one of the ARs. Frown
