I really, really like them.

Particularly the all silver one.

I'll see if I can place an order for one. This maybe way too early for the likes of us scruffy Colonials located at the ends of the earth - Australia.

I'm still smarting by the refusal of Geiger to sell me a Geiger GRP pistol - to be sent to Australia - so this may soften the blow !

They cited warranty support issues for the likely only GRP to be in Australia, even when I offered to waive warranty and take it at my own risk. ( My gunsmith is German and was trained by/and worked for Krieghoff, hence my lack of concern about the warranty_

I wouldn't buy this with your money. Does absolutely nothing to satiate a desire for a Hi Power. I would rather own a FEG than this thing (no slight to FEG intended).

That grip looks like it is going to be the same size as a Beretta 92.

In my opinion, the attraction of the original high power was its svelte lines. This just throws that out the window.

FN will have to pay a fortune to have some well known actor use this in the next blockbuster action movie in order to get a any traction with it.

I guess we'll see it in the next Bond movie.

^^^ Bond.

They gave him a Walther P99 in Casino Royale, but then defaulted back to the obsolete and crappy PPK later on for no reason except "classic Bond". A Sig P232 would have been better - keeping "the look" but updated. A PPS would be more appropriate now.

Doubt the new Bond will get an FN in the next movie. P365 makes the most sense though. Small, good power, good capacity.

You guys have a much better eye than me.... the picture I stole from the FN site and posted on page one is of course a nice professional composite.... they sure looked good to me. But y'all must be like those wine and liquor expert tasters and have a more refined pallet/eye than me.

I do agree the proposed price for these is above what I would jump at.... but the comments that it is not a real FN confuses me.... in that at least for me Made in America trumps a lot of these perceived negatives.

With me I realize wanting one falls back on 50 years ago when the two handguns I wanted were a Colt Python and a Browning HP. The Browning because one of the few books I remember reading in high school was Serpico.

The 17 round magazine is a deal breaker for Colorado with their 15 round limit otherwise it would have been a contender for this FN fanboy. I was hoping to see a higher capacity 503.

Mec-Gar had a 15 that might fit the bill xaircav. I think the Springfield P-35 uses that mag.

Stephen Camp, who is gone but not forgotten, did a ton of articles on the Hi-Power and compared it to CZ etc. I think the biggest complaints as to the 2022 version not being a "real" FN are more that it's not a "real" Hi-Power because FN deleted the bushing system, redid a few of the internals, and added a goofy hole in the front of the slide (which is fortunately absent from the CZ75 and Hi-Power). I /want/ to like it, but it feels like a 2011 vs 1911 to me. It's probably better in every possible way that matters, except for "feel" or "character".

There’s hardly any parts compatibility between this FN and a High Power. The mags they’re using are FN 509 mags. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a new single action 9mm that has to prove it’s worth.

The MSRP kills me.

Who would pay that for a poor "tribute" to a real High Power?

I could pick up a dozen Hi Points and festoon them all over my chest like Blackbeard before I reached this thing's MSRP. I'd probably have enough left over to twist cheap cigars in my beard and light them on fire too.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how they think this thing is the "cat's meow" High Power. THE real High Power already existed in its purest form and the decision was made to chop its head off. This one is gonna be a flop the same way as when SIG decided to make a "new" P225 after the REAL P225 was discontinued in Germany. WTF are these companies thinking???

To paraphrase Dickens, FNH-USA is more Frogmore than frog. The Belgians wouldn't have this thing.

Meanwhile.... Mosin Crate is listing some former Israeli HPs actually made by FN in Belgium starting tomorrow morning (29 Jan) that look a lot nicer than some of the previous ones I've seen.

It's not the original classic, don't really care, because I actually like this new one's look. If the street price can be sub-1k, I'll definitely give it a try and see how it measures up. A lot of people bashed the P225-A1 and the American P210 when they first came out, because they are nothing like the classics, but they turned out to be just excellent guns.

It is kind of growing on me. The more I see the stainless model the more I am liking it.

Same here. I cannot wait to buy one of these. I guess i am in the minority with this but i really don't care that its not true to the original. If i want an original i will find one. This one looks like its been built to shoot the crap out of it.
I like any cocked and locked option that is NOT a 1911.
As for all the knocks on the weight, I like that its 40 oz. I don't have to be able to carry every pistol i own. I think a 400z. 9mm will be a blast at the range.
I will probably end up with a stainless and an FDE if we actually see them.

I understand why shooters would be attracted to this pistol. My objection is that they're calling it a High Power. The pistol is so different from the High Power, it's a new pistol. They even changed the locking system. To be fair, the High Power is somewhat delicate by today's standards. Bill Laughridge at C&S, who has worked on more HPs than probably anyone, will tell you this. The crosspiece stud in the frame which serves as the guide for the barrel lug is a weak point, and somewhere in a box in my garage I have a C&S catalog from the mid-1980s in which Bill says something like "if you try to make major with the High Power, you're going to roll the locking lugs." Consequently, ammunition in my High Powers is limited to standard pressure only. I wouldn't shoot +P ammo in my Brownings, not even a limited amount. Of course, even more modern designs, such as the first generation P226, are not IMO rated for +P, either. How many times in this forum have we seen early P226s with broken frame rails? I've no doubt that these new pistols from FNH-USA will stand up just fine with higher pressure 9mm ammunition.
