I'm so picky about esthetics. Growing up I hated the High Power cut. I hated it on 1911s. Now, I love it. This is even less of a High Power than this FN, so it's thread drift, but what an attractive gun. I had never heard of this CZ clone until very recently but now I find myself Googling for pictures of it constantly.

I'm hearing *rumors* that the MRSP on the new FN abomination will approach $1300 USD. If true that becomes another nail the coffin.

Well fuck that. Back to waiting I guess. For that price I’ll find an original.

As this plays out further It’s almost as if this should have been an April 1st announcement.

There's still a segment of the population that will pick it over the SAI because it's an FN.

Just like some folks buy new Colt 1911s just because they're Colts, despite there being other better options in the same price range (or lower).

But it's not really an FN. It's not a product of Fabrique Nationale of Belgium. It's a product of a US-based company that's trading on the FN brand.

And Colt has been restructured, renamed, bankrupted, spun-off, reacquired, and bought out numerous times over the years. It's not really the same old Colt circa early 20th century.

FN America is still a direct subsidiary of FN Herstal.

That's similar to saying Glock Inc. (Glock Ges.m.b.H.'s US subsidiary) is just "some company trading on the Glock brand".

I agree 100% this clone thing is a joke. Whoever indulges in the SA or FN and has the opportunity to shoot a real Hi Power is going to be disappointed. The SA and FN fans might be happy but it won't be the real deal IMO.

The ambi features are of interest to me. The takedown of Hi Power is great - pull slide back a little, engage the safety into the takedown notch, remove the slide stop. No reason to change that unless they figured out how to add a magazine lockout to the takedown lever (like on P320's and VP9's) which forces you to lock the slide back and remove the magazine before rotating the lever.

But the overall look kind of reminds me of the Colt Double Eagle double action "1911" that sucked. The rear is extended back like a classic Sig which is not how a Hi Power is shaped.

I would literally take my polished blue FEG Hungarian wanna-be "Hi Power" clone over this... this... whatever it is.
No. Just no.

Dunno about PVD. SIG certainly bombed with that finish on their early Legions. At least FN resisted (for now) the urge to put front serrations on the slide. The price points are ridiculous, though. FN already learn that lesson when the Ruger 57 came out (price drop), and that one isn't even a clone of the Five-seveN.

I don't think it's particularly ugly though I agree it's also not true to the original. However I'll wait on how it performs rather than ripping it right out of the box on its aesthetics alone. It's not as flagrant a foul as SIG NH regurgitating the 'P225' name, at least to me.

Doesn’t look right. Plus they made changes and they want to charge $1200 to $1300 !
They will be canceling it by June while Springfield Armory sell like crazy.

I could buy an MR73 with what the set of three would cost.
